I booked a 4 hr. Kayak ride for me, my wife, and daughter on Aug. 10th at Willow Beach to Emerald Cave. Our guides, Anthony and Shea were fantastic. They instructed us on the safety requirements for the trip, and offered assistance when and if needed. There were about 15 total participants on the trip and both Anthony and Shea kept the adventure relaxing and pleasurable, interacting with everyone on the trip and genuinely enjoying the trip as much as we did. They were pleasant and motivating, engaging in casual conversations with participants during the trip. The views were spectacular! I was impressed by their concern for the environment, they would remind us of the importance of keeping the river clean; always offering to collect our trash throughout the trip. Anthony and Shea are true professionals and I condsider them a great assest to Evolution Expeditions! I would highly recommend Evolution Expeditions to anyone seeking a wonderful kayaking adventure!

We had about 15 members in our group, not counting our guides, Shay and Sebastian. All but one was from our OI Division Reunion from the USS New Jersey (BB-62). It was great to get out on the water together again. The size of the cove was a bit disappointing, but our guides were fantastic and made the trip worth it. They answered questions gave stories, and kept us safe, even when Rod tipped his craft and got wet “Man Overboard, Starboard Side!” I even enjoyed Shay’s corny humor. I appreciate that they were not too strict about my tendency to go adrift, but I knew they were watching me closely.

Ed, Thank you for the wonderful review. It was such a pleasure having all of you with us on the water. Your group of navy buddies are certainly full of life and amazing stories. It was an honor to have you choose us for your tour company. Guests love the fact that they have so much freedom on the river to explore and being with a guide gives them the extra sense of comfort and security. We thrive on showing people the beauty of the Black Canyon. Weather it's a group of friends, a corporate event, team building, or a family reunion...there is something for everyone on our tours.

We loved kayaking on the Colorado River with our tour guide, Michelle. Along the way we saw a big horned sheep, hawks, herons, grebes, cranes, loons, gulls, terns, snipes and other water fowl. Michelle showed us the remains of the residence and the Willow Beach gauging station with its precarious catwalk and bucket tram hanging from a cable, which the man who was the water gauger would use twice each day to get to the river to measure the water level back in the 1930s. Then we arrived at the dazzling Emerald Cove. The water was a brilliant emerald green. We kayaked into the cave backwards so we could get beautiful photos of the cove and the river. We spent about 3 hours on the water kayaking. It wasn't too difficult except for a few minutes when the wind was blowing against us. The kayaks have rudders and foot pedals which makes steering the boat much easier. Michelle provided water and snacks. She answered any questions we had. In our tour group was a foreign couple who did not speak much English. They hadn't been kayaking before and were having a difficult time understanding how to control the direction of their tandem kayak. Michelle attached a tow rope and guided them, and she ended up paddling and pulling them for most of the trip. I give her a lot of credit. That was hard work. Thanks for a great trip! It was beautiful.

Took the Emerald Cave tour with Candace. She was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. She was also very patient. We had 6 people of varying kayaking experience and skill including two children under 12, and she was able to keep everyone engaged and kayaking effectively.

We took the 4 hour tour with Stewart, he was an excellent guide who was knowledgeable about the river and its history. The kayaks are nice and roomy quality equipment. He had plenty of water and snack that where offered while we stopped for a break at the old house ( forgot what it was called). I would highly recommend this for anyone who wants to get out have a peaceful kayak tour. Also we did get to see Vultures and White Tailed Mountain Goats which was very cool.

We are so fortunate to be back up and running our kayak tours. Our locals have been starving for some outdoor adventures after being held up at home for a few months. We are glad to give them a reason to get outdoors and enjoy the unique beauty of the Colorado River. Thank you for the great review. Stewart recently moved out from the east coast and has been enthralled with the experiences he has had while being out west. His laid back attitude and his dedication to giving our guests the best experience possible, shines through in his guiding on the river. Please join us again in the near future, we offer a wide variety of tours ...some include hiking, hot springs, and full days out on the water.

Trevin is amazing, we were a group of 7 with 4 more guests seems hard to deal with considering we are all new in kayaking but Trevin nailed it like a pro. He is very composed and well trained to do his job, we learned history, fun facts, and he even towed our kayak with a rope as were having hard time paddling against the strong wind and current. If you’re Visiting Willow Beach Marina definitely look for Trevin, it’s worth your time and money.

An amazing tour and experience. We wanted to Kayak on the Colorado river whilst on our trip to Vegas, booked the tour to Emerald Cove with Evolution and it was a perfect choice.
Our guide Burton is awesome, he is local to the area, naturally passionate and knowledge about everything there is, from the plants, the wildlife, the rocks, history and landscape. He is friendly and took care of us well.
We booked the 4 hour tour with lunch which I think is worth the extra as it is less rush, more relaxing with more rest points. I would recommend going on tours before 1030 so the queue going into Emerald Cove is less. The Kayak Evolution used it stable enough, with water tight storage, so it can store our own water bottles, sunscreens etc.

My friend and I had a wonderful 3 hour trip on the river. The guides were very clear with safety and paddling instructions. The river itself was easy both up and back. In general, I would recommend double kayaks for people who do not have a strong shoulders. Even though, there was very little current, it is still a long time to be paddling. (We had a head wind for about 30 min making for a tough section of time.) Several people in our group tired and our group had to separate a bit to allow them time to rest and then catch up. No need for pride here. Everyone will still enjoy the river regardless if solo or double. I can imagine bringing my Grandkids along with each riding with an adult, but probably not good for little ones under 5. There's nowhere for them to go except into cold water.

Thank you for your feedback and suggestions. Paddling in a tandem kayak as a beginner or, as you said, those with shoulders that are a bit weaker is a great idea.

Our first ever kayaking trip to emerald cave was so much fun from the beginning to the end. Our guide was friendly and energetic and made even the boring safety lecture fun. The kayaks were in great shape and they have each guest as little or as much attention as they needed. There were young kids as well as older people and they managed to keep everyone happy at the same time. The views were well worth the trip. And the lunch was even delicious. I can't think of anything I didn't love and even my bratty teenagers had fun and didn't complain once about the lack of internet access.
We all wanted to do it again the next day.

It's a good day on the river when you cant think of complaints haha. We DO have a knack for making subjects that can get boring entertaining enough as safety is very important when on the river. Thank you for your honest review.

Rachel was our wonderful guide on this 3 hour/4 mile kayak tour. We kayaked from Willow Beach Marina up to the beautiful Emerald Cove and back. There was a quick stop and hike - along with historical information. The kayaks with rudders made it so easy to maneuver our way. The company provides transportation from the strip, but we chose to enjoy the drive ourselves. Candice checked in with us in the morning to be sure we were on our way and help with directions if needed. All in all a great day, a great guide and a great company to do business with!!

Hi Candy, Thank you so much for the kind words. We are so thrilled to hear about your wonderful time on the Colorado River. Our Emerald Cave tour is truly spectacular and is a perfect way to enjoy an afternoon in the early Spring ( our temps in Southern Nevada are amazing this time of year). The drive out to the Willow Beach Marina is an experience in itself. The beauty of the desert paired with the serenity of the drive make for a wonderful start to the day. Rachel and Candace are both committed employees who put the customer experience above everything. Glad to hear the whole package exceeded your expectations. Best regards, Your Evolution Expeditions team
