This review is for the business not the adventure. The reason for it not being for the adventure is because we didn’t end up going. No one ever plans or wants to get sick while on vacation but that is exactly what happened to me. The morning of our reservation almost as we were walking out the door I became sick. My husband met the gentleman from the company who came to pick us up and told him. My husband said he could not have been nicer or more understanding. He gave my husband his cell phone number and said if I felt better there would try to accommodate us on another day. Thankfully, I did feel better a few days later and we had planned to go but unfortunately it rained so we couldn’t go. The company ended up refunding our money. We want to thank them for being so understanding. Not many businesses have such great customer service. They were more than reasonable and we never expected to have our money refunded. We figured we lost the money because I became sick and couldn’t go but they actually refunded a full refund. We definitely plan to go on the adventure the next time we go to Vegas. We highly recommend this company just because of how understanding they were in our situation. Thank you!!!!!

Had an amazing day landSailing with Omega. This is absolutely a hidden gem adventure to get off the strip in Vegas. Pete was easy going and made for a perfect day. Forget 4 wheeling or a Hoover dam tour, land sailing makes for a perfect day

Tried this sport for the first time with my son on our family vacation in Vegas. We had such an amazing time!!! Who knew you could have so much fun with 3 wheels and a sail? Peter the owner is the most patient person and an excellent guide to trying this sport. You can tell he is passionate about land sailing and that is infectious to you as the guest.
He had to switch our date because the wind forecast wasn't good for the date we had signed up for originally, thankfully our schedule allowed for that. I was glad to know that he wanted to ensure we had the best conditions for our experience.
It takes a little while to get set up as he is generally a one man show doing everything all by himself, but he's a great conversationist and personable so it's enjoyable.
He makes sure that everyone gets good instructions of how to manage the the cart and sail and then sends you out over the dry lake bed to have at it. Everyone in the group had an awesome time shooting across the lake bed catching the wind.
If you're worried about getting hurt, it's actually not easy to do even if the cart tilts to the side because you're buckled in and the mast of the sail works as a support to keep if from going all the way over. You just hang on your side. But don't get me wrong it is indeed exhilirating!
I would gladly go with this company again on another excursion. The owner is kind, helpful and safety conscious, the equipment in good condition, and you have a wonderful time.

It is a surreal event to "sail" across the desiccated floor of a dried up lake bed in the middle of the desert in Las Vegas, with the backdrop on one side of a mountainous sunny region, and the carnival rides and cheap casinos on the other. But it's a good day out. Omega Land Sailing takes you there! It is a weird, otherworldly sport. You sail in a contraption consisting of a 3 wheels attached to a mesh that holds your body, with a large sail (just like that on a sailboat), and use the wind to propel yourself. The devices are "Blokart", "Manta," and "Whike." So you can look them up if you are curious. The owner picks you up in his shiny white van, and off you go to the Ivanpah Dry Lake, a most unique park where you can sail away across the length of multiple football fields. Don't get too far out, or get stuck, but if you do, the helpful instructor/owner will come bail you out. It is exhilarating. The hot desert wind in your hair, eyes, and nose, you sailing along under the bright, open sunny sky...can make you feel that you are anywhere but Las Vegas. It can take some getting used to, but after minimal instruction and trial and error, you might find yourself coasting up to 7-10 miles per hour (if you are a bit cautious like me), or up to 50 miles per hour (if you're a daredevil like my nephew). If you find that you like this sport, you can take private lessons, join up for competitions, or even go overnight to various areas of Nevada where this is done. Even if you just want to do something different for once in this city, aside from the dull repetitiveness of casino life, this is a lark.

This will probably be one of the most fun and exciting things you'll do! Pete is very well organized and friendly, and will pick you up at your hotel. You'll probably sail at Ivanpah, one of the best land sailing sites in the world. I tried it, and bought one as soon as I got home! Totally hooked!

Before doing this I was really interested in the whole concept but did have some worry that I'd get too hot even get bored after sailing around the dry lake bed for a bit. But the reality of what we got was way more than what I expected.
It only took about 10 minutes of instruction and 5 minutes of being in one of the land sails before everything clicked and we were off. What followed was hours of fun. We got to sail around and explore at our own pace (this NEVER got old) and we even had some fun races.
Pete is the owner of the company. He picked us up at our hotel and we met some locals near our destination for the day. Pete is a great conversationalist, professional, fun, and the perfect guide and instructor. He included ample lunches for us all as well. You can tell he loves what he does and he wants everyone else to fall in love with it too. And we did. Pete could tell how much fun we all were having and he said there was no rush to leave. Whenever we all wanted to go, we'd go. He also took some pictures and video for us and shared them with us the next day!
This is definitely something we would do again. It really was that fun. There were only 4 of us that day and I think with even more people zooming around it would be even more fun. You control your speed and lake bed is huge so no worries about crashes. It was 95 degrees and sunny but the wind kept us cool and one dose of sunscreen worked the whole day.
Do this! And bring your friends!

We just got back from our Vegas vacation week and one of the highlights was our half-day land-sailing trip with Omega. The owner Pete was an excellent host who promptly picked us at at our hotel and hauled us out to the desert. The ride itself was a lot shorter than I expected and was very scenic with Pete keeping the conversation lively! But it's the sailing that will make us book a trip whenever we visit Vegas. I've land-sailed in other places but nothing beats the long, fast runs possible out on the Ivanpah lake bed. The winds started out slow but after 20 minutes on site picked up quite-a-bit making it ideal for my better half to learn to sail and she enjoyed it thoroughly as did I.
Trust me, if you haven't sailed before THIS IS THE SPOT. If you have sailed before THIS IS THE SPOT. Enough said.

My family and I thank you very much for your review and support. It's a privilege to be living and working in Las Vegas. Stay in touch, and I'll be sure to take you to another amazing dry lake a little further out next time. For a longer experience, consider an overnight trip to Tonopah with us, where you'll sail higher & cooler lake beds by day, and a gazillion stars by night! Cheers, -Pete

I reserved the tour for 3 of us, the tour operator Pete give us 2 days of possibilities, on the days, based on forecast, there isn’t enough wind, so we couldn’t do the tour. Without any problem, Pete refund the total cost. Next time when we in Las Vegas, we will give it another try, hope the weather will be suitable to do the tour

This was such a cool experience and Peter only made it better. On the way, Peter filled us with knowledge about the surrounding area and Las Vegas in general up until we arrived. Then he explained to us how to use the equipment and we were quickly on our way. He made it fun and easy and let us just do our thing and we even got to experience wild donkeys all around us. We had the best time!

When my friend suggested Land Sailing, I was like, sure, why not? I should have been more enthusiastic since it was truly a blast. Much better than racing exotic cars or shooting machine guns. Peter was a great host, giving simple directions and helping us get started in these very cool Land "yachts." Extremely safe and easy to maneuver. Of course, you need wind and that comes from Mother Nature and Pete's experience at picking the right "dry lake." We were with several others including a family of 6 with 4 teenagers who instantly took to land sailing. Pete is great, picks you up in his huge van, gives you a bit of tour and the drive from the Strip is only 30 minutes. Pete supplies all the equipment you need, which is really only a bandana if it is reallly windy and knee pads. I managed to biff and was quite safe. No part of me touched the ground. I was able to quickly exit the "cab" and right the land yacht. I highly recommend this activity. Just so nice to get away from the Strip!
