My sister and brother-in-law brought my wife and me to the experience. The weather cooperated, not too hot. The views are superb and you can view the dam from both sides of the boat. Plenty of time for photos. The food was good.

We went on the Lake Mead Dinner Cruise were picked up by Grayline the tour guide was great. We got to the lake by 6p then we had to wait till 6:45p to get on the boat by this time it was getting dark - do by the time we got to Hoover Dam you could not see it - I think the cruise could start earlier. There was no air conditioning it was hotter inside than out and it was over 100 degrees out side. They finally fixed it but it was still warm. One lady said the ceiling in the bathroom fell down on her. I think the boat needs an upgrade. The food was good but not worth $65.00 per person. I would not recommend this tour too bad it could be good - staff doesn't really know what they are doing.

While it was a hot windy day, the dinner cruise was a bit cooler and the boat gave us a very smooth ride! They take you very close to the dam, and the scenery to get there and back is very relaxing. The food was so-so, I had the chicken Marsala with mushroom sauce. Never saw a mushroom. Sauce was a bit sweet. Mashed potatoes needed gravy or butter. Husband had salmon. A bit dry, needed a sauce. But hey, we went for the ride and it did not disappoint!! Would go again.

You have probably read the reviews about having a surprise charge of $25 to get into the Lake Mead recreation area, so I won't dwell on that. However, I would point out that if you are 62+ you can purchase a lifetime $80 National Parks pass at the gate. Its yet more money, but if it works for you, it covers your entry fee and then some. When we booked the cruise we had intended to rent a car for a few days so getting to Lake Mead on our own was not a problem. But like all good plans...we ended up not renting a car and rather than cancel the cruise, we decided to Uber out and back. Not a great idea in hind sight. Getting out there from Vegas was no problem. The problem is on the way back. When the cruise was over, it was dark and the area around the 'dock' is not well lit or marked from the main road and there are not an abundance of Uber drivers just hanging around that area. We did manage to get a ride, but had to wait 20 mins. OK, but now its dark and the crew of the boat had all left and we were left alone, in the dark, in a deserted unmarked area. The Uber driver couldn't find us and was about to give up (it was a female driver in a lonely secluded dark area) but stuck it out and we 'texted' her to where we were. If she had not persevered I don't know what we would have done. Anyway, onto the cruise itself. The food was better than I had expected and the serving staff were pleasant enough. The alcohol server was really pleasant. We splashed for the champagne special which was really good value at $25. I thought there was an option to upgrade to a better champagne but the server didn't seem to know about it. In any event the $25 champagne was good enough. The cruise takes you to view Hoover dam. Unfortunately, the weather was horrible with really high winds, and I mean high, so the Captain decided it was too dangerous to go all the way into the canyon right up to the dam. Can't blame her, I went on deck and it was blowing like stink. On the way back, the sun set quickly and you could see nothing of the beauty of the area. So, catch your sight seeing on the way out. Overall, I would say the cruise itself was worth it, but without a rental car or other transportation, I would give it a miss as the extra cost/difficulty is just not worth it.
