About
Play where Tiger Woods won his first tournament, and the "RAT PACK" played and entertained. When you play golf at Las Vegas National Golf Club, you will forget you are in the desert. This exquisite championship golf course, conveniently located only 5 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, is the former host of the PGA Tour’s Tournament of Champions, Sahara Invitational and the Las Vegas Invitational. Classic in design, this course combines rolling fairways, glistening lakes and greens well protected by palm, pine and olive trees. Just after completion in 1961, The National, then called the Stardust Country Club, hosted its first professional golf event, the LPGA Championship. From that date forward history was made. The layout, designed by Bert Stamps, is traditional and is a challenge for the best of players. The National has become a landmark over the last 50 years. It was host to the movie “Casino”, starring Robert DeNiro, Sharon Stone and Joe Pesci. Use a Cart, GolfBoard, or Scooter.

Love this golf course. Lots of history. Established in 1938 it is one of the oldest if not the oldest golf course in Las Vegas. This used to be the course for the PGA tournaments in Las Vegas. Tiger Woods won his first PGA tournament at this course in 1996. Make sure to check out the small exhibit/museum in the club house. They have s signed scorecard by Tiger Woods when he won his tournament in 1996 on display. Also make sure to read the history plaques located on some of the tee boxes. It will explain what famous person owned what house. This golf course runs through a neighborhood of houses. These homes are old and small but back in the day these homes must have been mansions. There are many courses in Las Vegas but if you want to play a vintage golf course this is the course.

Played July 30, 2022 after a heavy rain the day before. Enjoyed the round even though I was awful but the course did seem soft and the greens were in ok shape. Pro shop/restaurant/beer cart staff were awesome. Starter was a bit of a smart ass especially given we weren’t familiar with the procedures. I want to play it again for sure.

The Las Vegas National is a very nice course. Easy to get to from the Strip hotels and reasonably priced. Easy to check in and the staff are very helpful. The club has a driving range, chipping area and putting greens to warm yourself up on. the course itself is very open with a few water hazards. A lot of history here and the fairways and greens are immaculate. Some greens are quite tricky with the slopes and undulations. Would definitely play here again when in Vegas.

Entire course in a shocking state, fairways and greens in awful condition.
Course surrounded by slum housing and generally has a 'down at heel' appearance.
I was there two days ago with my wife (20th Sept 2007) and would strongly suggest you give this course a big swerve.
Try Sienna, which is reasonably priced and an excellent course or the Royal Limks which is pricey but a great mock up of holes from different British Open courses..St Andrews, Troon, Hoylake etc. Superbly fake and really enjoyable.

I have played several rounds at the "Las Vegas National" over the years. It is and has always been a challenging course to play. The staff are always very helpful, and keep the course looking and playing Great. A good course for the money. You can't go wrong.

Played here with a small group from the USBC bowling tournament. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The pro shop clerk was very pleasant and outlined the procedure for club rental and tee time, and range area, etc. The bag and cart clerk was very helpful. Having a cooler with ice and water already in it was a plus. Range was close by and buckets of balls were free. Greens fee for our group was $57 and rental clubs (Taylor Made) were $25. The greens were small and undulating on just about every hole, but the course itself was relatively flat. Rough was short, some water on a few holes. Greens were fast and almost all pins were behind traps. The traps were filled with grainy sand, and the first ai hit out of was typical and an easy blast. The second was like cement and my wedge just bounced off it and skinned the ball. The markers in the fairway were very helpful at 150 yards from the green. Speed of play was good, even with some hackers in out four groups. We finished in about four hours. On balance, a good course for average players. My handicap is about 13.

Wonderful and historic course not far from the North end of the Strip on Desert Inn Rd. Their "museum" is cool to walk through. Everyone I interacted with on the course was very friendly and efficient. The course was in great shape the day we played (mid-August). Decent driving range and you get a bucket of balls with your green fee. I'll definitely play here again.

We played here a few weeks ago and had a great time. We rented the golfboards and those were a lot of fun to use. One thing to keep in mind, if it is a hot day, there is no coverage if you are using golfboards. The course itself was in good shape. Each hole had fun history on who lived on the course and other significant happenings. Overall the price for the course was good too.

We almost didn't play here because of some of the negative reviews. When we arrived, we were greeted by the Marshall and directed into the Pro Shop. All seemed good.
The negative comments we had read were about the litter in the creeks and the scruffy houses around the course. These were valid.
However, we enjoyed the course, and would play it again.

I played LVN on November 2nd, and the fall rye overseed was complete, although not fully grown in. Joining a couple and another single, we wound our way around LVN and had a great golf experience.

This is an old school design, fair but challenging. Greens and traps were in good shape, and It was apparent that the Superintendent knows his stuff. The par 3's give you a nice variety of length, and we played around in 3 hours and 45 minutes, letting a faster threesome through as well.

The rate was fair, and it is an easy trip from the Strip. Homes that abut the course are 50's/60's style, but the property is attractive and well maintained. LVN will be part of my plans in any future trip to Las Vegas.
