I heard of this place before our recent trip to Vegas and thought it sounded great for our almost 2 year old.

Its a great place and my son loved the water room (he would still be there now if we didn't drag him away) but there are a few things I wish I knew before my visit.

Although this looks close to Fremont Street on google maps, its not walking distance (especially in the heat with a toddler) and there's a train line in-between however, there is a FREE shuttle bus (bright pink) called 'The Loop' which drives from The Strat on the Vegas strip and stops at Symphony Park (right outside Discovery Museum) it also stops at the North shopping mall, City Hall and the Fremont Experience to name a few. We got a taxi from The Strat that morning after breakfast but had we known about the free shuttle we could have saved around $25! We used the Loop after to get to the Fremont experience. Just something to keep in mind if you are staying on the strip.

The Museum itself is 3 storeys high and has a range of activities inside. our Toddler loved it. we would have spent a lot longer here however, there is no Café so we couldn't get lunch or drinks. Just a fridge in the gift shop selling a few basics and nothing outside the museum either.

We were told our tickets lasted all day so could leave and return, we didn't have our own transport so couldn't be bothered to return once we had left and we spent the rest of the day on Fremont Street and Container Park. If you had a café then we would have stayed all day, enjoyed the facilities longer and spent more money.

If you are a family visiting Las Vegas, we highly recommend this activity. Probably best for children from ages 2 through 10. There are three floors with a myriad of interactive activities that will stimulate the mind. And for slightly older children, they can pretty much roam free and without any worries. And if smaller children get lost, the staff are really excellent at detecting this and tracking down anxious parents. There is no restaurant on site so bringing food or a picnic is probably a good idea. You can eat outside and they will permit reentry if you give them the heads up. They also validate parking. And all of the staff were very polite and pleasant. Also, watch out for entry discounts. Standard tickets are approximately $14 but you can get greatly reduced rates, to approximately three dollars come if you have WIC or similar cards.

My four-year-old had a wonderful time at the museum. She loved "Water World," where the kids can put on rain coats and play with interactive water features. The museum was understandably chaotic because we visited during spring break and there were various school groups in addition to families. The multilevel play area is fun for kids and stressful for parents. I don't feel like we learned a lot on our trip, but it was a great activity for young kids. Recommend.

My 7 y/o son had a great time, we spent over an hour exploring all the exhibits and taking place in the various activities. His favorite part was water world. We didn't make reservations ahead of time because we used Groupon tickets but had no issue accessing the museum on a Saturday afternoon. Staff was friendly and we saw several employees going around and disinfecting the high touch areas.

The Discovery Children’s Museum is an amazing place, there is so much stuff and exhibits going on inside. Because of the current climate they are on a ten percent capacity so there is not a better time to take your family to experience. Just make reservations online before you go and you can have an amazing museum almost to yourself.

So much for kids to do here in a city known for its adult playground! Just down the street from the Freemont Experience, this is an interactive kids museum with 3 stories of activities, crafts, shows and exhibits. Our girls were 4 and 8 during our visit, and loved every minute.

Do not go here during Covid! My husband and I took our grandkids for what we thought was going to be a great experience. We paid full price as localS for our tickets. Half of the exhibits were closed or not fully operational and there was barely anything out for the kids to do. The employees stand around and talk to each other and wait for you to walk away from something to start cleaning. Being that this is our first time there it would've been nice if instead of the employees cleaning everything they were actually showing the kids how to do some of the exhibits. They also had employees following us around to make sure our mask did not fall beneath our nose. I understand that this is a policy that the museum has but they did not do this to other people that were in the museum. One of their employees followed my husband around and every time his mask went even a centimeter below his nose they reprimanded him. They also tried to reprimand our three-year-old granddaughter as soon as her mask went below her nose. We did the best we could with our grandkids trying to chase them around to keep their mask above their nose so we did not get reprimanded by the staff. I understand the museum has policies and procedures for cleaning and masks, but because it's a hands-on museum I feel that they should either open it up or just stay closed. Like I said do not waste your money going here during Covid unless it is some sort of a discount because you're not getting the full experience.

The LEAP approved guidelines of the DISCOVERY Children’s Museum can be found on the Museum’s health and safety webpage. You are referring to Nevada’s mandatory face covering Directive, which also states under Section 3 that “Businesses may adopt practices that exceed the standards imposed by Declaration of Emergency Directives… but in no case shall business practices be more permissive than the provisions of this Directive or those imposed by NV OSHA and the LEAP.” DISCOVERY Children’s Museum has chosen to follow the CDC’s guideline that face coverings should be worn by all individuals except children under the age of 2 or anyone who has trouble breathing, is unconscious, incapacitated, or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance. DISCOVERY will permit a loose cloth or full-face shield (one that covers the chin) in place of a mask for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health conditions, or other sensory sensitivities. Medical professionals have advised DISCOVERY Children’s Museum that visitors with asthma, respiratory illnesses and/or other medical conditions are at higher risk of contracting COVID-19, and therefore if they are not able to wear a face covering for these reasons, they should not be permitted to visit the Museum at this time. We understand and respect your decision and we look forward to welcoming you back to the museum when you feel more comfortable to do so.

Still open during COVID. The middle section was closed. Still a nice place to visit. We went on a day where CCSD was closed and it still wasn't crowded. We were able to social distance and everybody wore masks.

Sad excuse for a "museum". My kids were bored and not intellectually challenged. If this is the best Las Vegas can do for children then shame on them.
They force you to wear a mask despite being vaccinated but don't believe in social distancing. They let everybody in and don't enforce social distancing. The very minute I walked into the place people were all on top of each other. No space to walk and very crowded. Worse than a sports event or concert. Staff look lost and confused. Never again!

It seemed small at first but as you explore you will find plenty of things for your kids to do and you might find yourself "playing". We had the most fun building house on the earthquake tester. Maland Line Tip: if you ride the bus (Deuce or SDX) then transfer and go to the factory outlet stores and walk a few blocks
