About
Located in downtown Las Vegas, this pedestrian mall spreads over five blocks along Fremont Street. Home to many casinos and hotels—including Golden Gate Hotel and Casino and Binion’s Gambling Hall and Hotel—it's also known for jaw-dropping shows and fun activities, from free concerts to the 12-story SlotZilla Zipline.
Come just before evening to catch Viva Vision, a light and sound show that takes place on the world’s largest video screen—an LED canopy that spans 130,000 square feet. To make sure you don't miss any of the highlights, there's a variety of day and night walking tours available.

- camoria186 contributionsNew Years Eve downtownGreat experience and glad we tried it but would probably not do it again for NYeve. Very, very crowded, but that was expected. The bands were excellent and you could go and hear a different one without hearing any music coming from the other three. Lots of other entertainment, especially people watching. We thought that since we were staying at the Golden Nugget we would receive our entrance free, but did not as we had booked through an agency rather than direct with the hotel. Cost us $60 US each, had we known this we could have booked wristbands earlier for $35.Visited January 2020Traveled with friendsWritten January 6, 2020
- bucketlisttravellersSydney, Australia3,783 contributionsFun end to our time in Las VegasWe were catching a late night bus or of Las Vegas and we decided to spend our last few hours at the Fremont Street Experience, which is not far from the Greyhound Bus Terminal. We highly recommend coming here if you come to Las Vegas as there's great atmosphere, free entertainment and it's lots of fun. We loved the overhead screen which gave the area a lot of colour and light. It was also entertaining to watch people riding on the zipline overhead. There are a few stages scattered throughout the area and at night they have musicians performing. We saw a number of bands and they were all doing well known covers that everyone could bop along to.Visited December 2019Traveled as a coupleWritten January 4, 2020
- Jan WaggonerLivingston, Texas12 contributionsI love free things in Las Vegas! There is so much more to do than gamble in Las Vegas. The people watching is awesome! Just hang out on Fremont Street for awhile - no only for the LED shows but for all the people watching too. Unless you want to be bugged for a tip, avoid letting the showgirls grab you for a photo. Also, avoid the many people trying to give you free samples because then you’ll have to extricate yourself from their sales pitches! There is a great city bus route (called the Deuce) that is only $8 for a 24 hour pass. It goes from Fremont Street to the Strip so you can see everything you want easily.Visited January 2020Traveled with friendsWritten January 20, 2020

This is a very busy place to be. Downtown Las Vegas. The canopy of lights is so bright that even in the day you can see it well. At night, especially Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, it gets extremely busy. If you are going to Las Vegas, this is a must-see. All of the old casinos with the neon lights is a step back in time. Then you add the millions of modern LED lights that play video and music above you, and it is pure entertainment. They have bands that play on a stage at night, and there are a lot of people dressed up trying to get you to pay them $2 to take your picture with them. Also street performers looking for a few bucks. But you have to see it!

You can get from the strip to Freemont street by bus either the "duece" or "sdx" and it'll cost you $8 for 24hrs. Lots to see and do. Street performers drumming on 5 gallon pails, rolling roses out of reeds you name it it's happening. 3 different stages with dj's live music, it's a none stop party in the evening. Casino's along Freemont were very busy with a lot of action. Didn't feel threatened at all although getting there it seems a little skeatchy. You'll need a full evening to experience it all.

Download the Lyft app on your phone and it will cost you about $10 to get there. Really a different expereience from the Strip. Home of the Golden Nugget and Four Queens to mention a few. Over 12 million LED lights in the overhead canopy with different images happening all the time! Free entertainment all over the place and the people watching is second to none!

We visited here as part of our day using the Deuce bus, $8 a person for 24hrs a great way to get about the strip.
For me I felt that in comparison to the south end of the strip Fremont area felt run down, with more dodgy characters around.
The digital ceiling is cool but not really enough to keep us in the area for more than 30 mins. There is a zip wire there which is fun too watch along with a few street artists.
Personally I preferred the area by the Linq which also has a zip wire, and street artists .
Worth a visit to see what down town Las Vegas looks like!

Downtown Vegas has come an incredibly long way from where it was 20 years ago. The Freemont Street Experience is a sight to behold with the Canopy and the mass of people there on a nightly basis. The best part of it is on most nights, there are 3 - 5 bands playing fantastic music to suit most tastes and it's all free. Get your drinks at the outside bars instead of the casinos. It's usually cheaper, though you can get cheap beers at Binions. Plenty of casinos for gambling are bunched together and more affordable than on the strip. Don't let a trip to Vegas end without going downtown.

One of the best Vegas experiences. Easy to get to via The Deuce. Always seems to have great entrainment on stage, lots of people, great sound and the multi-media experience on the roof is amazing. While ads promote cheaper drinks than on the Strip that’s not something I observed but neither are they more expensive.

I was so excited to see the world’s largest arch screen ceiling, I was definitely amazed by how long and how high definition it is !!
The screen covers the whole street, there are stages along the way, the two at both ends have singers performing, atmosphere is excellent, the street is super busy, filled with all kinds of artists as well as some half naked girls...
We took a walk there while we were waiting for our table at the Rock Pizza around the corner.
This area looks much older than the Las Vegas Blvd for sure, but it is an interesting experience, and as they said, “ drinks are not only allowed but also encouraged” on this street!
Pizza was good, but not cheap... a regular size one cost over $20, FYI.
You should at least go see the cool screen if you are visiting Vegas !

I will be headed there August 19-21 with a 17 year old. I have heard there’s a curfew from 9pm is this correct? And if there is and we can’t be on Freemont is it safe to walk down Carson Ave to get to Neonopolis from Golden Nugget at night

They wouldn't let me include a link to the official website that will answer your question. Long story short, yes there is a curfew downtown for under 18. 10 PM to 5 Am Sunday thru Thurs, and 12AM to 5AM FRI and Sat.
In my opinion downtown is safe, but there are some sketchy people around that might make him feel uncomfortable. If you're with him, there is safety in numbers and the curfew doesn't apply because he is with a parent. Win-win

Once you get there you should be good. The only problem is getting there. Uber and Lyft are very busy between the hours of 6pm-3a.
