Started 6:40 and was doing great until reaching a snow patch which covered the trail. Followed some girls and it ended up like loose rock climbing which was challenging. Got to the top (I think) and then took a different down which ended up as large rock climbing down until I found the real trail closed to the snow patch.... More

Be prepared for a difficult hike, but you will be rewarded with wonderful views along the way and sweeping 360 views at the top. I did this hike in September and it was chilly at the top so bring a windbreaker and possibly gloves and hats.

It is not hiking for beginners, but it is definitely worthwhile. It will take you the entire day, as it is like 2-3 hour up and 1,5-2 hours down if you are a good shape. The view from the lake is amazing, but also along the trail you will enjoy! Go for it, I loved!

The trail is rated from moderate to hard and it can take from six to eight hours for the round trip (9.6 miles). I recommend an early start, around 7 am, because of the sun that can make things harder. Pay attention to the trail so you don't get lost. Go prepared with fresh water, snacks and sunscrenn. Remember to... More

Hiked up to Mount Tallac summit yesterday ... a 9.5 mile loop with a 3,500 foot ascent to the summit (9,735 feet) that affords some of the most breathtaking panoramic views of South Lake Tahoe! It took us about 4 hours to climb to the summit and about 2 hours back. My quads are squawking this morning but totally worth... More

This trail is probably one of the best hiking spots in all of Lake Tahoe! Truly a great place to spend the day and the views at the end of the hike are outstandingly beautiful!
