Great place to get tips on tours, drives, restaurants etc. Small gift shop too. Only one unisex restroom so there will be a wait. People kindly let us leave our half sandwich in their fridge for later.

Worth the stop

A true resource for the community. They know the area and their are many things one can do for no charge or a small charge. Sand Harbor the entrance is $10 bucks but one must go very earlier, take the shuttle (high recommended) or ride the bike bath. Also parking outside of Sand Harbor is not allowed and the illegally parked cars are often ticketed for a charge of $305..

Often overlooked, The Thunderbird Lodge tour, one must arrange at the visitors center, takes two hours and is by appointment only. Also Mount Rose Meadows is a great hike and very easy with good parking. You can also hike to Chick a Dee Ridge from the Meadows, 1 hour round trip, and see a panoramic view of the lake. It's named Chick a Dee Ridge because the birds will eat seeds out of your hands in the winter.

Stopped in here the other day to inquire about Massage therapy recommendations for a couple of clients. The staff was very friendly, responsive and helpful. Also, found a lot of other informative information pertaining to the Lake Tahoe area. Thank you again for your help.

I went there to get some information on local homes and the area since I'm not from the Lake Tahoe Area and the staff were very friendly and helpful and pointed out the best information they had available (all free) on local homes and events.

A treasure of information in a well-designed, friendly setting

I stopped at this Visitors Center prior to boarding a shuttle to the Thunderbird Lodge tour. The center has LOADS of information about the Tahoe area, and both of the employees were very pleasant and willing to share detailed information about what is in in the area, based on my questions. They were able to offer suggestions about several area hikes, natural sights, and even some shopping tips! The center also has lovely grounds surrounding it, and there is even a little room of Ponderosa memorabilia in the main building. This center really exceeded my expectation of a ‘visitors center!!’

We stayed 2 nights. All the help was great. We had a lovely room. Certainly enjoyed the club room. Their fitness center had plenty of equipments choose from. We did not visit Lone Eagle restaurant, but have been there in past, and the food is fabulous.
