- smcdanielAriton, Alabama555 contributionsFred says helloSuch a cool place to stop. Make sure to get a pic of Fred out front. Missy is the host and she's so nice and helpful. She had lots of stories and offered to help w pictures. The building is not insulated so it's HOT in the summer and COLD in the winter. If you pass by and they aren't open, it's probably because the conditions are not approprate for working. Also check out the the sign on the fence telling you not to enter Area 51.Visited September 2022Written September 13, 2022
- Chad SLayton, Utah29 contributionsLots of photo ops!We loved this store! She has the original Extraterrestrial Highway sign mounted on the wall and you can all sign on the wall. Great photo ops all over. The owner is the only one that works there so it's closed Monday and Tuesday so she can have a life.Visited June 2022Written June 24, 2022
- Hooked_on_travel77Franklin, North Carolina3,093 contributionsWonderful stop & many gift selections. Customer service was brutal!A delightful stop with many gift selections. We enjoyed the stop. When we returned home we accidentally broke a cup we purchased. Several e/mails and a phone call later and they made zero effort to assist us. Of course we would pay for another plus the shipping. They would not even look on the shelf where there were others just days before. Tough luck! Have a nice day!Visited May 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten July 8, 2023
- Jim TKenai, Alaska890 contributionsSo Disappointed….. Was not open☹️I was really looking forward to exploring the Alien Research Center located at 100 NV-375, Hiko, NV. So planning ahead I checked to see what their hours and days of operation were since I was going to be there on a Saturday morning. No problem, open daily from 9am - 5pm….. or so I thought. Upon arrival at about 11am I found the doors locked. A sign on the door said it was supposed to be open (except on Mondays and Tuesdays when they would be closed). So disappointed….. but since I would be coming back by in a few hours perhaps they would be open then…… nope, at 2 pm they we’re still closed. I won’t be making a special trip back out there just to visit this place….. maybe if I’m nearby I might try again.Visited March 2022Traveled soloWritten April 12, 2022
- Tabitha AKangaroo Flat, Australia332 contributionsMissed opportunityThis place could be wow - but it’s missing it’s opportunities. It’s a shop full of plastic junk you could buy at Walmart, with exception of a few stickers that are probably out of stock anyway. Not worth the several hours drive to/from Vegas. It should be about information in the area, what/when/how/who with exhibits and stories and newspaper articles and photos and all that stuff, but instead it’s a wall full of graffiti.Visited January 2020Written January 15, 2020
- Me_n_my_rucksackYorkshire, United Kingdom6,099 contributionsIts just a shopAs opposed to the Lil Alie'in at Rachael which is kinda quirks with food amd lots of information.... this is just a Sci Fi shop. Lots of people have bemoaned its never open - but I dont think that matters that much - its just a shop and the main attraction is getting some photos (It has a cool AREA 51 sign). Glad we stopped and had a look as it was en route elsewhere... happier that we didnt make a special trip.Visited March 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten April 17, 2023
- NevadaTurista35 contributionsJust a Sci-Fi memorabilia/liquor store (?), not a UFO research centerNorth side of Nevada SR 375 just a short distance after it splits off from SR 318 near Hiko. Steel agri-dome structure with big, goofy alien outside (should have tipped me off as to the level of "research" that takes place here). No website that I can find, but the Facebook page indicates it's a liquor store (although they sell a lot more than liquor). Thankfully, there was no admission fee. If you're a level-headed, serious aerial phenomena researcher, don't even waste the elbow grease turning your steering wheel to pull in here. All this place holds is a collection of mass-produced sci-fi and UFO pop-culture trinkets - T-shirts, posters, toys, books, videos, maybe a few autographed posters and photos from "ID4" (Independence Day), "X-Files," "Paul" and other movies and TV shows. It is very much the cliche' tourist trap aimed at passionate UFO/Area 51 admirers and curiosity seekers (like me). The guy who runs it wasn't even there the day I visited. Instead, his disinterested, less-than-enthused niece was hosting the checkout, and she barely lifted her eyes to acknowledge my presence - even though I was the sole visitor. She did admit that it was not truly a research center but rather merely a store. Just bought a couple of refrigerator magnets to say I'd been there. I do highly recommend that you visit nearby ET Fresh Jerky (see related review) - if not to satiate your curiosity about UFOs and Area 51, certainly to cure any hunger pangs. Good variety of jerky, nuts, snacks, dried fruits and veggies, and prices are not bad.Visited September 2014Traveled soloWritten February 22, 2015
- JRinLasVegasMichigan267 contributionsFabulous - when it's openI've been this way six or seven times and only once was the Center open. There is no signage indicating their hours so we were stumped as to when we could get in again. The interior is large and well maintained with many interesting and intriguing info bytes on the subject of extraterrestrial life and the gift shop was nicely done too. I'd give it five stars if I could ever get back inside again!Visited June 2015Traveled as a coupleWritten January 18, 2016
- dm73Gimli, Canada81 contributionsKnow what this really is...If you're truly expecting an actual alien research centre you'll be disappointed, but if you understand this is just another part of the fun of the Area 51 experience you'll enjoy it. If it is closed, try calling the phone number for someone to open it up.Visited July 2016Traveled soloWritten July 31, 2016

We stopped to buy hiking socks with alien motif and we also purchased the alien print t shirts. We drove on the Extraterrestrial Highway further to Route 6 and back to 93.

We had high hopes for seeing some fun and off-the-beaten path slices of Americana but were disappointed on our trip down the Extraterrestrial Highway. Other people who have written on Trip Advisor and other sources have often said it’s not open upon their arrival. There is no sign on the door that indicates it’s closed for good and there is an RV parked out back. It’s is still reasonably fun because the alien stands out front, but that’s about it. We headed on down to Rachel to see the Ale’inn.

This is a nice place to stretch your legs, grab a drink, and look at some scifi themed merchandise.
The staff was friendly and there were a lot of shirts and magnets.
There is also Star Wars, X-Files, zombie, NASA and Bigfoot type stuff to buy too.
But make no mistake this is nothing more than a retail store.

Guys, Need a little help here.
I visited this shop today, while driving from Mesquite, NV to Yosemite, CA. My wife has left her watch in the rest-room in this shop. More than being expensive it's a memorable gift for her.
I'm trying to find-out e-mail / phone number to reach to the shop . I have manage to get this number: (775) 725-3750 and i will try to speak with them ( no one really picked-up though ) .
Fortunately , I bought something from store and have it on my credit card ( so a proof that i indeed stop there ) . What are my options here ? I would really appreciate, if anyone from the nearby area can provide any guidance. When we stopped there today, there was a lady ( quite uninterested in even acknowledging our presence there ), who showed us around .
I will try to reach them tomorrow first thing but any help would be highly appreciated.
