Museum is relatively small and most fun for children 4+. We had our 18 mo old grand daughter and she found plenty to do. Children about 4 to 7 or 8 seemed to be having the most fun. The exhibits are not high tech but there was plenty of room to pretend, run and climb. Also tables for coloring and drawing.
We were there on a Monday afternoon in March with a total of about 8 children, Not sure if it gets crowded on weekends or in the summer.
Very highly recommended!

We made this a stop on our way to Reno and found it to be super engaging for our kids, 4 and 7. There were many younger children present, but the activities on site really engage the little ones through to adults.
From fuseball and air hockey, to dissecting a frog and learning about ecosystems and the many fish tanks. Learn about the history of northern Nevada, play doctor, and zip down the really fast slide. The balance of education, sport and play is great.
We've visited a handful of children museums in larger urban cities and this one rivals those, no doubt.
Have fun, be a kid!

This museum has a decent number of interactive activities for preschool and elementary school kids. I found many of the activities to be similar to what would be offered in an after-school program for children of working parents. With a few exceptions, I did not find the activities to reach educational levels beyond what kids would be learning at school. I did not think it was worth the price of admission for an adult visiting without children, and I thought it would be most useful as a place to take children when school is not in session and they are bored.

This museum is really small - one room in fact. But for the low admission I bet your kids will have as much fun as ours did. There are "scientific" activities, climbing, real-like shopping, dinosaurs, aeroplanes, small gift-shop... The slide didn't seem very safe to me, so keep your eyes open. This place is good for couple of hours. If you want something more, go to Reno Terry Lee Discovery Museum.

I have been taking my son since he was 18 months old. BOTH my kids ( now 4 and 6) beg to go back weekly. We buy the very cheap reciprocal pass so we can enjoy this museum and other's around us. They do Science on a few Saturdays a month. The exhibits are all hands on. It is rather unfortunate that some things were broken due to a break in. Who in the world breaks into a children's museum and destroy's exhibits??????????
I do what I can to donate time and money so this little Carson City gem cam stay open for a really long time!

Recently visited the children's museum and my son could not stop talking about his frog dissection. The new dinosaur exhibit was both informative and fun. The entrance was just recently hand painted with a beautiful, fun and colorful mural. DEFINITLEY PLAN TO RETURN

This "museum" is one room, it has a toddler corner thats full of extreamly dirty "dress up" clothes, and a host of broken toys. (toys with missing parts, no batteries, or just plan broken) There is a play hospital room, but the only thing to play with is a old phone next to the bed. A step on piano, with about 3 or 4 working keys. A huge space ship that is only good for a place to sit, none of the buttons work, and it doent do ANYTHING. A train that is the same story as the space ship, does nothing. Half of one side is a "nevada" exzibit, but the only thing to do there is sit at the "gov" desk (Fun!....NOT) and a play grocery store that seems to be missing lots of stuff, and the stuff it does have seems old and dirty. I have 2 young children and live right here in carson city, and unfortunatey take my family and my $$$ to Reno to do anything fun. Don't waist your time with this crap hole, and dont risk your childrens safty, its not worth it. They need to fire the curator of this musume, level the bilding, and try again.

This place is a lot of fun. Kids get to play with items and learn. I really had fun here even when I was just with another adult.
