While camping at Cathedral Gorge State Park up the road in Panaca, NV we ventured out to check out the other Nevada State Parks in the area. It was a boiling hot day and Kershaw-Ryan State Park was a welcomed find. The park is situated in a colorful, narrow slot canyon about 2 miles outside Caliente, NV. The steep canyon... More

Located at the entrance to Rainbow Canyon in Caliente, this jewel is a surprise treat. The park is beautiful and beautifully maintained. The flowers are varied and beautiful. The grass is lush. There is a wading pool and even a children's playground. The park staff obviously take a lot of pride and care in what they do! It's really a... More

This little state park near Caliente preserves a manipulated farm location (sans buildings) that created an oasis in the desert. There is a modern campground, swimming pool, and garden area complete with playground and large picnic area. There are a few walking trails but they are not worth the journey. This park should be understood as a recreational area and... More

Kershaw Ryan is within easy driving distance of Caliente, Nevada. It offers RV sites on the lower portion of the park, and picnic and recreational opportunities on the upper portion. There is a small wading pond surrounded by grass and flowers and a Koi pond close by. The cliffs are covered with a curtain of plants, fed by springs and... More

This park is in a pretty little slot canyon very convenient to US93. It's a nice place to stop, but in my opinion there are better camping alternatives close by. The campground is small and exposed with very little shade in the middle of the day. If you want to camp, better to go up the road to Cathedral Gorge... More

This park was the main reason we traveled from Vegas to Caliente. The facilities were well maintained and clean. Plenty of running water including a nice swimming pool. There are hiking trails, grassy lawns and covered group picnic sites. Pay the small fee at the entrance station and relax under the cottonwood trees while listening to the water trickling out... Beautiful canyon that ends at a picnic area. Clean and beautifully landscaped. Entrance fee but worth it. Nice clean restrooms.

What a beautiful oasis in the high desert! Tall cottonwoods, grass, meticulously landscaping with hundreds of flower plantings. There's a pool for children, vollyball court, picnic areas, and very clean restrooms. You can sit in the shade and listen to the water burbling out of the spring. A little piece of heaven!
