I used to think La Sagra made about three or four beers. Surprise! They have more like 15, counting a few they distribute for other breweries. We had trouble finding the brewery, because we drove all the way into the town of Numancia de la Sagra. Well, the place is actually in the industrial park overlooking the highway. Plenty of parking on the street. The tour lasted about an hour and a half (not counting a fifteen-minute delay to allow for late arrivals) and cost 6 euros for the no-frills version that included the standard tour and a tasting of three beers. So, more economical than a movie, and you get beer, too. The 15-euro tour included a tasting of the wort as well. Tours are given only on Saturdays, when the machinery is shut down, to minimize noise and interference with shipments. The vats and the bottling machinery occupy the same big room, so I imagine the noise level is pretty high during work days. They apologized for having to deal with an emergency shipment while we were there, and just the sound of the forklift made it a bit difficult to hear the guide, so I have to applaud the decision to do tours only during downtime. Our guide was the master brewer. A good communicator, though seemingly stern, he took many, many questions at the end of our tour. "What about the beer?" I hear you ask. Well, I liked it and took two armloads home with me. More I cannot say.

We took the tour at the brewery, followed by tasting of 3 of its many craft beers. The explanations were really well done and the brewery makes high quality products: craft beers, barley wine called Bohío, beer-based jam. These great craft brewery stands out from the pack because it delivers solid flagship beers, interesting new styles and seasonal beers, as well as artistic designs and good marketing. They also host concerts on Friday night to allow for more tasting and shopping at the brewery. Highly recommended!

Very nice artisanal beer, but the tour was simply an explanation while standing in one place. Yummy.
