The Monument Valley Pathway is well worth the visit. The park staff is amazing and the views as you walk or drive around are incredible. Part of the walking path allows you to walk in the footsteps of the pioneers, following the actual route of the oregon trail.

The path up the Monument along the east side is closed indefinately due to a rock slide. You can still walk the highway to the top along the west side and through the car tunnels for beautiful vistas of the Platte River Valley. Park staff encourage you to be down by 8 a.m. but they won't throw you over the... More

We were last car down as the thunderstorms rolled in. Dramatic evening light contrasted with the gentle morning-after-the-night before. Very helpful and knowledgeable NPS staff who were happy to engage in an extended and fascinating conversation with us. A little gem in the NPS collection.

On a hot day it's easy to imagine the difficulties faced by the pioneers. We walked the path and looked at views that were once seen by travelers on the road to a new life and contemplated how different the times were. It was a peaceful walk and great views.

We loved it here! The hikes and the views were both wonderful. If you are able, stick around for sunset and bring a camera. Just gorgeous! Wonderful history and park staff.

The hike to the top of the bluff was closed, but we drove up with no problem. We did both short hikes at the top, and both were very worthwhile. The views are pretty spectacular, especially when you consider how far you can see on a clear day. Try and imagine what it was like for the Oregon Trail wagons... More

This National Park has such beauty for capturing photos at sunrise and sunset. The history and individual stories about the trails, it's settlers who passed by this location are incredible. The fortitude and determination of those who sought something better than what they had is an important story along with the indigenous people who occupied the areas for centuries.

This was really neat. You can drive to the top and look at the valley below by taking a couple of short hikes. Knowing this was once a part of the Oregon Trail made you wonder about the pioneers heading West!!
