Eating under an oak tree the truly authentic cuisine, with home grown vegetables and wine, in the peace and quiet of a zakynthian yard, is a unique and unparalleled experience. Impecable hospitality and quality of food, amazing ambience! Thank you Mika and Antonis!

My husband, 2 year old and I drove from Vasilikos to go here as we found it on TripAdvisor and thought we'd take the chance and we are so glad we did. You drive through a small vineyard and pull up to a stunning and rustic farmhouse with a seating area set amongst trees. There are chickens, dogs and cats running around which my toddler LOVED. The owner brought over both a karafe of homemade red and white wine, bread, olives and homemade cheese to match the wine without us even asking and everything was stunning. The food is another level and one of the best meals I've had in Greece and I have had A LOT! the atmosphere is chilled, rustic, friendly and homely and something I would highly recommend doing if you're anywhere in Zakynthos.

Zakynthos is full of beautiful spots; coastal and inland, but Ampelostrates was probably my favourite dinner in our 5 day stay. From the winding track to the farm, to the stone buildings, the design of the restaurant, Mika's art on the walls and then the wine and food. The food is excellent - I believe completely authentic, and with quite a few dishes we didn't see anywhere else. The wine is really good, both white and red; perhaps witness to this is that we arrived at proper Greek dinner eating time (around 21h00) and left close to 2am (we were with friends of Andonis and Mika!). Strongly recommend Ampelostrates Horese Vineyard as a must visit when in Zakynthos.

We were looking for somewhere "special" to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary while on holiday in Zakinthos - and boy is this truly a special, magical place! I first visited Greece in 1985 and Ampelostrates has the magic and ambience I remember from those early visits. A laid back atmosphere where it feels like you have been invited by the owners to their garden party. They offer you a warm welcome but a relaxed, under stated approach means they are not on your face and it creates an intimate feel. The background music of slow, lazy blues also adds another layer. The food is as authentic Greek as you can get and is excellent quality and value. The beef stew and village sausage being a particular highlight. But best of all it had its own winery and both the white and red wines it produces were excellent. Finding good wine in Greece is often a challenge but these were so amazing we bought a couple of bottles of each to take home. All in all a brilliant way to celebrate and as fabulous an experience as I've had for sometime in the Greek Islands. Well worth a trip out. I think the owner said his name was Adonis, but I'd had a few glasses of his excellent wine by then - so thank you to you and your family Adonis for a great night. We will be back to see u again one day! Ian & Karen
