I went here for an event with some friends. The facilities were nice with snacks and a variety of wines to taste or purchase. We did 6 tastings for $5 (although you could also do 4 for $4). The descriptions provided of each wine closely corresponded to the actual taste. We ended up buying a bottle for $16 (most bottles were around that price). It was a good experience and I would go back!

We tried 6 different wines that we got to pick from a list of 20+ wines ranging from whites to reds and everything in between. Also a variety of sweet and mild taste. We also got cheese, sausage, and bread that was very tasty but definitely should have gotten 2 for the 4 of us. Then we walked around the vineyard. Wheelchair accessible although the paths change from dirt to rocks so watch your step! Cats are super friendly but are not bothersome, they mostly mind themselves. Be careful going when it’s hot out because there seemed to be millions of lady bugs But they go away in the evening.

We've been to James Arthur a few times, all have been a very relaxing visit.
The outdoor seating area is really relaxing and the wine is excellent.
Would highly recommend for a night out with that special domeone.

I used to like coming out to JAV but after my last experience I will never be back. We had planned to start our night out for a friends bachelorette party. I called ahead of time to see if we could reserve tables and the woman who answered said she'd have the owner call me back. Barb (an owner) called me back and from the start of the conversation she was extremely rude. She acted insulted like how dare we try to reserve tables at her winery. Apparently they were having a big party that night and were expecting a lot of people. I didn't understand where her hostility came from, I was promising at least 15 people to come to her "party" wouldn't she want the business? I was so upset after speaking with her that had invites not gone we would have switched wineries and gone somewhere that would have appreciated the business we were bringing to them. It was by far one of the rudest experiences I've had with a business. The day of the party I went out a little ahead of time and snagged three tables. I did speak with a man who was nice and explained i was waiting for a group of gals to enjoy some wine with. Might I mention that almost everyone there for her "party" was seated outside, there were tons of open tables. So all of that rudeness for nothing. Once my party arrived we got bottles of wine and sat down. We felt like the staff was a little rude, they would give us sideways glances occasionally. We all commented on how awkward we felt. It was so bizarre to feel so unwanted in a place. All in all their bad customer service did not ruin our time but its too bad that they don't know how to treat customers.

Two couples ended our Saturday night, 6-30-12 at James Arthur Winery, due to the fact that I had been there about 5 years ago and had a memorable visit and have always wanted to go back. On that particular Sunday 5 years ago, Mr. Arthur took a group of us on a tour of the winery in his golf cart. The grounds were lovely.
On Saturday, 6-30-12, James Arthur Winery was our third stop of the day on Saturday during our weekend Nebraska Wine and Heritage Tour.
They were very busy. We waited for space at the “tasting” counter.
We made it thru the confusing wine tasting. Something about having to pour the tastings to a certain line, even though the manufacturers made a mistake on their tasting glasses.
Wine tasting pours are usually much smaller. There was no dump bucket; the server had to take our glasses off site somewhere. I came to taste, not get drunk.
During our tasting, tipsy young women kept coming to the tasting bar and holding their glasses out for another pour “to the line”. We noticed a limo came to pick up one group of young tipsy things, which was a good, because several of them fell while walking to the parking lot and several fell again in the parking lot. James Arthur winery seemed to be more like a bar than a winery. Which might work best for some.
I caught on to what was supposed to pass as a tasting. For $5 these young ladies can get 12 ounces of wine and the glass. You pay for the “tasting” getting to choose 6 different wines or as they were doing, 1 wine = 12 ounces of your pick for the night. 12 ounces equal 3 glasses of wine. Clever marketing to bring in a crowd who can drink on the cheap.
This particular night, the music was provided by a raunchy folk singer. The four of us moved our table and chairs as far away from the “folk” singer as possible to enjoy our wine choices, the evening and the three legged cat.
There were families of several generations in attendance with the children. The music was for people who like raunchy lyrics and signer comments. This type of entertainment was in my opinion a poor choice for a winery who likes to keep things on a higher end. I’ll go back, but will first check to see who is providing the “entertainment.”
I ended up with Heartland White. It was the only wine I liked. It was really hot that night; the dry wines just did not appeal to me. My friends bought the Bird Game without tasting first, which they ended up taking back to the hotel room and dumping.
We elected to not purchase wine to take home.

While we truly appreciate reviews submitted by our guests, the wine tasting cost in this review was stated incorrectly. At JAV, we're delighted to offer guests two separate options in which to enjoy wine tasting: Option #1 - 4 tastes for $4.00 or, Option #2 - 6 tastes for $5.00 Each "taste" is a 1-ounce pour which makes Option #1 equal to a total of 4 ounces while Option #2 equals a total of 6 ounces. Either option includes a souvenir wine glass to keep. For additional information, please contact the winery or, check out our website at www.jamesarthurvineyards.com

What a nice place to visit and support local wines and business. Beautiful well groomed gardens surround outdoor seating. Very affordable wine tasting options along with fresh baked bread, local cheese, summer sausage and favorite Bakers chocolates to compliment your different wine selections. Many award winning sweet white wines that I enjoyed. Take the time to stop by this local gem.

My husband & I had a coupon for wine tasting here, and it was worth every penny (and would have been worth the full price as well). We could have brought home a couple of wines, but settled for the Nebraska White. We aren't wine experts, but we seem to agree on what we think is good or not so good.

It's been a couple of years since I visited the vineyards in Raymond. I remember how welcoming the staff is and how relaxing the atmosphere is.
I must visit more often!
I had time to catch up with a friend as we watched the vineyards from under a gazebo while sipping a glass of wine and snacking on a filled bread with Italian sausage similar to a runza. They have a couple different snack foods like bread, chocolate, crackers, and cheese.
I can't wait to return!
They now have some hard ciders which were good!
