We stopped here while driving through on Hwy 75. We like the road less traveled. This seemed like a good, natural break in the drive. The covered pavilion was full of interesting information about the Omaha Native peoples. Lots of beautiful wildflowers. Peaceful overlook of the Missouri River.

Needed a driving break and pulled in. Wow were we surprised at the informative structure and interpretive signage, not to mention the view over the Missouri River was just stunning. Take time to stop in here to stretch your legs and learn a bit about the Omaha Indians. Clean, but no services here.

This specific stop should be paired with a drive north and south along Hwy 75. I'd start at about Winnebago NE and end near Desoto National Wildlife Refuge in Missouri Valley, IA.
The drive follows the Missouri River which is the border between Nebraska and Iowa. You'll be driving through the rolling plains of the Loess Hills. I think it's a wonderful mid-America experience. You will see hillsides full of trees, cornfields, prairie grass, livestock and river basins.
This overlook is about halfway between the two stops. It's right on the side of Hwy 75 with about a 200 ft walk to the viewing station. You will be looking down on the Missouri River flood basin from the Nebraska side. Iowa can be seen in the distance on the other side of the river. I was here as the leaves were turning during Fall color. Gorgeous.
There is nothing to really do at this overlook, which is why it should be paired with a drive along 75. Another huge feature of this drive is that it passes through the heart of several Indian reservations on the northern part of the drive. The towns are filled with historical and cultural significance.

When I went there I thought it was great and it was very informational and the scenic overlook and over the Missouri River is very picturesque.
