Beautiful mosaic ceilings and floors, paintings and sculptures inside the 400-foot high capitol building are as impressive as its marble, bronze and gold leaf exterior and white tower topped by a bronze statue. Free guided tours are available.

Lincoln is rather small, easy and quiet town. Nice people, very clean, well maintained and sensibly restored historical buildings. The State Capitol building is exceptional one. Surprisingly, there were virtually no tourist around there! Unfortunately, we were already in hurry back to Omaha airport so that we had no chance to go inside, yet. Next time for sure.

This is an absolutely amazing work of art. Every inch of this building is so beautiful and amazing. And the views from the top are spectacular.

I haven't toured the Nebraska State Capitol since I was in the 3rd grade so my memory of the Capitol was a bit hazy. The Capitol is so full of history! The tour is free and lasts about a half an hour and you stay on the main floor for the most part. The tour consists of the history of... More

Well worth a visit if you are in Lincoln. Amazing architecture and great views from the top. All for free! One of the few things Nebraska politicians have done right in the last century. Unfortunately you cannot, under any circumstances, go to the highest observation area, supposedly because someone took a swan dive off it years ago. I don't know... More

The state capital of Nebraska was built between 1922-1932. In my opioion if you are in the Lincoln,Nebraska area it should be on your list to see. They offer guided tours and when open the 14th floor observertory gives you nice views of the City of Lincoln.

The Nebraska state capital has got to be one of the greatest buildings ever built. It's marbled halls are a sight to behold. From the top where the sower is throwing seeds to the west to the wonderful entry doors a sight to behold.

We went there on a Sunday around 3 pm or so. It is a nice place to visit. It has a great view of the city on the 14th floor. The celing on the 1st floor is very ornate. The inside of the bldg is presteen in my book. They do offer tours around 2pm or so. Reason I say... More

It's kind of strange to walk into a government building with no guard in sight, and no one to tell you where to go or not go. Even the entrance is kind of unmarked. Still, there are a couple interesting rooms to visit. You can take the elevator to the 14th floor, to top of building. On the day we... More

The Nebraska State Capitol is an architectural wonder that should not be missed. And the mosaics on the interior of the building are lovely and tell the story of the state beautifully. A must see for visitors... and locals who have never taken the time to enjoy this treasurer.
