Beautiful mosaic ceilings and floors, paintings and sculptures inside the 400-foot high capitol building are as impressive as its marble, bronze and gold leaf exterior and white tower topped by a bronze statue. Free guided tours are available.

The building is a nod to the nobler days of class and elegance. It feels grand and special just walking the grounds and once you enter time seems to slow . . .

If you are a fan of State Capitols, Art Deco architecture, or unusual buildings - this one checks all 3. It is open, and free to the public, including weekends. If you are visiting Lincoln, go see the tallest building in town.

Nebraska's capitol is a stunning example of history, architecture and art. From the floors, to the walls to the ceilings the finishes, mosaics and decor are beautiful! As we entered the building, we came upon a large group of school students listening to a guide as they sat beneath a gorgeous dome. Take the time to walk through this wonderful... More

My first exposure to the NE State Capitol was 40+ years ago and it has never ceased to awe me... The exterior is impressive, and the interior will humble any visitor in a way that reflects a wonderful history. This is a 10/10 attraction for tourists and residents.

This capital building was very tall. You can go to the top with an elevator and look at the skyline of Lincoln and take some pictures. The bottom floors are made out of different types of marble and it is very interesting. If your in Lincoln you have to see this.

Structure of the capitol was quite impressive and thought put in the outer courtyards for the airflow was interesting. Our guide was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We highly recommend taking the tour and then wander if you like. Our guide was so full of little tidbits and made our visit very enjoyable. We did find the capitol to be dark... More

Despite an initially underwhelming entrance (door was tiny and CONFUING), the capitol was goid. Spent three hours alone looking at the busts. Beautiful.

Modern building on the outside with a high dome inside. Much mosaic in the flooring and numerous other pieces of art throughout. Only drawback is the lighting. It relies a lot on natural light so the electric lighting doesn’t do much. We were there on a rainy day so could barely see the detail.

Walked in and looked around and was awed by the dynamics and contrast of colors and resources used. Lots of great limestone with a backstop of dark colored wood then with mosaic tiles on the floors. Tons more on the ceiling and around the rotunda. But then when we went on the tour, it only took 20 minutes and was... More
