Beautiful mosaic ceilings and floors, paintings and sculptures inside the 400-foot high capitol building are as impressive as its marble, bronze and gold leaf exterior and white tower topped by a bronze statue. Free guided tours are available.

Stopped at the state house at the recommendation of a coworker. The building is very impressive and the view from the tower is outstanding. They do have tours which I missed but you can still enjoy your visit without one.

In Lincoln for the Ducks v Husker football game a couple of days early. The capitol is the second highest capitol building in the country. Got curious and visited. Good history lesson on Nebraska.

We took the elevator to the top of the tower and really enjoyed the views. It is a great way to see the lay of the land.

The state capital would seem like not with seeing with young kids. It was almost too much for our 2 yo. The view from above was fun and the paintings up there were gorgeous. The tour was about 15-20 minutes and well worth it to get a description of the architecture and art work even though our tour guide was... More

We found this 14 story state capital very interesting, after searching for a parking space for 20 minutes. The gothic interior was unexpected. The mosaics and murals were well done and interesting. We suggest it for locals, but tourists need to be prepared for the parking problems.

The Capitol building in Lincoln is treat for the eyes from the outside and the inside. This art deco style Builder was built over a 10-year period in the late twenties and early thirties. The stone came from Indiana as the local limestone was not very good quality. There are marble pillars inside that came from Italy. The inlays in... More

The art work is amazing. The tours are free and filled with great information. We were there on a Sunday and they opened the supreme court. You can't miss going to the 14th floor to see the view and the art.

The Nebraska State Capital is historic and majestic. It is worth a visit although it's not easy to find a parking spot very close on a weekday. The building itself is beautiful inside and out. There is no charge for a tour and you don't need to be on the tour to go up to the tower. In fact, the... More
