Great park

I walk around the whole lake on a regular basis (about 2.4 miles). The park is clean and well maintained. Peaceful and serene.

I went there with wife and my mother to check out the observitory. The park is pretty cool has a nice lake, golf course, and the Observatory. What the park lacks is porta potties there wasn't any around this place so, i had to hold it until the place opened. I was in HYDE and I was disappointed (no offence... More

It is a great place to have your family picnic or for a friendly gathering. The lake view is amazing. I love watching sunset over the Holmes Lake. There is a duck family and they are so active especially during summer. We went there to fish couple of times; however it was not a good idea. I think there are... More

Holmes Lake Park is a fun day excursion for family of all ages! If you want to go for a walk around the lake, a bike ride over the berm of the dam or just to play on the playground, Holmes Lake is the place. There are softball and baseball fields, volleyball courts and even a small-boat docks. You can... More

In this lake complex is the Hyde Observatory. We read in the newspapers that the Observatory would be open Saturday, March 5, from 7:00 -10:00 PM. We got there at 7:30 PM and were met by four or five cars of eager star gazers who were very disappointed. No one came to open the observatory. Bad show.

This is a great place to bike, fish, geocache, hike or just play in the park. This is a beautiful location and offers a wide variety of activities.

Not a huge lake, but close to other Lincoln attractions. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here but it is a nice place to take the kids to let them burn off some energy. Walking/Biking trail around the lake is nice for exercise. Dog run across the street is a great place to let your pup run... More

Holmes park has been a great place to meet friends and family for a picnic with a view of the lake. Lots of bikers and runners take advantage of the path around the lake. Beautiful at daybreak and sunset. Needs boat options as it used to have.

This mature park centers around Holmes Lake. While the lake is designed to protect the city from flooding it provides a pleasant park experience. I particularly enjoy riding my bike across the dam which affords a unique view towards downtown and the surrounding neighborhoods. There are excellent bike/hike trails which provide access to/throughout the park. It is a very safe... More

Park is very large with several playgrounds. They have a path around the lake for strolling or fishing. Can't swim there anymore but it is beautiful to visit and see all the leaves change on the trees. There are bathrooms and baseball diamond. Lake is large enough that you will see boaters and parasailors.
