About
One of the most popular beaches in Palermo, this suburban beach offers crystal clear waters and beautiful sand right by the town of Modello. There's a small free public section of beach where you can set up your beach towels, or you can rent a lounge chair and umbrella along the private beach club areas—be early as it gets busy, especially during summer. There are also many waterfront bars and restaurants for a taste of Sicilian cuisine with a view.
On the north end of Mondello Beach, you can rent a boat or hire a boat tour to explore Palermo’s beautiful shore, including Capo Gallo Nature Reserve.

- E CDublin, Ireland2 contributionsLovely seaside village outside of tourist season. Easy busride from Palemero.Bus ride from Palermo, quite busy with school/college kids but ok. Took a bit longer than the 30mins. Nice walk along the beach, friendly people. A bit cool end of March but it was nice and warm in the main square. Light lunch with very nice cold beer was very relaxed and reasonable price wise. Beautiful views, all and all a lovely day out.Visited March 2023Traveled with familyWritten March 30, 2023
- Tait WattsSydney, Australia40 contributionsCome early to avoid crowds, and be prepared to not get an umbrella!Beautiful beach with clear turquoise waters. However, it was packed full of people and parking was a nightmare. I’d recommend catching a bus from Palermo to avoid to parking issues. And pre- booking umbrellas online, as the queues are long especially waiting in the heat and you cannot be guaranteed a beach chair/umbrella as they tend to sell out quickly.Visited June 2023Traveled with familyWritten June 26, 2023
- irina jLondon, United Kingdom1,985 contributionsGreat beach but crowded on SundayThis is the beach closest to Palermo and you could get here by public transport (bus). Recommend to buy ticket from Tobacco shop in advance as busses are full. Ticket for 24 hours cost €3.50 and you can use it on any buses whole day. You need to validate it once you got onto first-bus. Tickets were checked regularly as it was Sunday . We arrived at 10 and already main beaches were Sold out. There is an option to pre book your sun lounge online however we didn’t know we could do that. We joined the queue for the beach where you can book sun lounges on the day. Price is €30 for 2 beds and an umbrella and half price after 2pm. They close at 7pm. You also need to give €2 cash deposit for a bracelet that you need to return at the end of the day. The queue was 45 mins however option to be on public beach was not feasible. It was packed as sardines! The beach itself is beautiful. Water is warm, clean, transparent and looks like Adriatic Sea. There are few places to buy pizza, sandwiches, granatta, ice cream, water. All very reasonable. We loved our day even at the start it was a bit of a hustle. - Vedobg21 contributionsNice until 10 a.m. overcrowded between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.Very nice beach in amazing bay surrounded by mountains.Very clean in the morning untill 10 a.m. But between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m very very crowded and not clean. After 6 p.m. less crowded but still not clean as in the morning. In the morning water is refreshing ,in the evening warm. There are small local restaurant, few night clubs, apartments, one or two hotels, few only for members clubs. In the night is relaxed atmosphere ,people are having lunch, walking or playing basketball. There are old nice vilas.Bus 806 connects it with centre of Palermo until 11 pm.Later there are night busses. It is nice but not exclusive area.Visited July 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten July 29, 2023
- Kaye JLondon, United Kingdom303 contributionsNot in July or AugustDon't come in July or August. 80% of the beach is given to private establishments - yes 80% & you have to pay at least 15euro to get a sunbed otherwise you have to squeeze onto a tiny section of the beach & it's packed like sardines. Once you're lying there you get hassled to buy tat every 10 seconds very insistently. The water becomes dirty in this period as there are so many people there. The only place for clean water is the nature reserve of Capo Gallo, again you have to pay to enter & there are only rocks - you are not paying the council for this, you are paying private individuals who put up an gate. If you come by car, any free parking is "managed" by people who ask you for money even though the parking is free, if you don't pay they may mark your car.Visited August 2023Written August 13, 2023
- Dream318505389461 contributionCrowded beachMondello is a nice place, are having a wonderful stay, but came mostly for the nice beach, ocean is really nice. But most of the beach are fenced with expensive sunbeds, where most are empty, and everybody else is crammed on very little space, every few minutes a lot of annoying sellers are walking by. Beach is good for swimming but not for a relaxing time. It's silly the rental beds have so much space, and only very few use them.Visited September 2023Traveled soloWritten September 2, 2023
- Tara S1 contributionNot for touristsHonestly the water was full of gunk and nothing like the pictures. Most of the beach is covered in private rental chairs with only small area for public which is extremely crammed. If you want the clear water you’re paying about 20€ per person and you have to buy their food and drink you can’t bring your own. Half the entire beach is also membership only so not very tourist friendly. Honestly was very disappointing I would skip Mondello and go to Termini Immerse the town was very charming and the water was beautiful. If i want to pay to get onto a disappointing beach I’ll just stay home and go to the Jersey Shore.Visited August 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten September 3, 2023

The best beach in Sycily. If you need a break from sightseeing and load your batteries before your next attractions - it is the place for you.
However going there every day may he expensive and you may get bored after two or three days. The infrastructure is rather limited and you can clearly see results of passing time. You need to choose your place cleverly if you want to use a restaurant, as it may be located very far from your sunbed.
If you take the above under consideration your day on the beach will be great!

We stayed at Mondello beach for 3 nights. Now that it is a high season, one umbrella including 2 deck chairs cost 25€ per day. One umbrella and one deck chair cost 20€. Its a sandy beach, the color of water was clear and blue. It was enjoyable!

Superb. Better than the Caribbean as the water is so clear. Very safe to swim in. Children would love it as it isn’t very deep. Sun loungers are only 5 Euros for the whole day and you can order food and wine from the restaurants nearby. Leaving your beach belongings is safe and the people are so friendly and honest.

Beautiful beach but quite a lot of litter after the weekend. We visited the first weekend in October and it did seem that a lot of places were closing for the winter season so not sure if there would have been much open if we’d gone any later. Nice little places dotted up the beach selling drinks and snacks and beds available if you’re prepared to pay the 15 euros for them (well worth it in my opinion!)

We stayed in Palermo and got 2 buses to the beach every day of our 10 day holiday. It took a few days before we sussed out the bus routes for 101 and then the 806. We used the private sun loungers which were well worth paying for. It was €22 for 2 sunbeds and an umbrella and €16 for 1 sunbed and an umbrella. On Saturday and Sunday this was €25 and €20 respectively. You can book beds online but the website is in Italian. I asked at the kiosk on Saturday and was able to book our sunbeds for Sunday. Both Saturday and Sunday sold out by lunchtime. There are toilets, changing rooms and cafes and bars. The water is crystal clear and the sand is soft and fine. Even though we were there early we got beds in row 3 as it was further from the fence and people sitting on the beach and the looky looks men.

You can easily get a bus here from the centre of Palermo. If you are staying in the city for more than a few days, I highly recommend it. We went out of season in January and it was still pleasant for a stroll. In summer I've heard it gets very, very busy.
There are lots of nice places to sit, the water is beautiful, there are a decent amount of restaurants- and the whole feel is very different to Palermo, much less busy (apart from in the height of summer, I imagine!). Even the journey there is pretty interesting.

If you are staying in Palermo and want a reasonably accessible day at the beach this is the place for you. You need to take two buses but it’s reasonably easy to do.
Looking at the previous reviews, it seems that people are unhappy with the fact that part of the beach (to be fair quite a big part of it) is privately run. I think this is the usual way of things on Italian beaches.
The public beach is a relatively narrow strip between the sea and the privately run beaches. We were here in late August, And the public beach was reasonably busy but seemed clean and with adequate space for everyone.
If you are prepared to pay €25 you will get a pair of sunbeds and a parasol on one of the private areas. You will also have access to clean toilets, a café, and of course the sea which is beautifully clean, clear, and warm.
I imagine that attending the public beach on a Saturday in mid summer is probably less pleasant and much busier but that can probably also be said of similar beaches. Arrive early to avoid disappointment…
Overall we had a really lovely experience, and went twice while we were in Palermo.

One of the best beaches in Europe that I’ve been to. It was only a bus ride away from Palermo so it was very convenient to travel to. Not only that but with many restaurants and stalls around, my friends and I weren’t left hungry or thirsty at all.
The beach is very well maintained with clean sand. In the evening there were less people and the tide was higher - not everyone’s most ideal beach setting but it was perfect for us. The water had a couple of cigarette butts here and there but that was inevitable; otherwise it was very clean!
Mondello beach was definitely worth the trip during our visit to Palermo. Will definitely come back if I ever get to!

a novembre cosa apprezzo a mondello?

Salve, il sito Italobelga è sicuro, non provato personalmente ma sentito dire al botteghino da altri vacanzieri. Come Lido vii consiglio da Lido Valdesi a Lido Stabilimento, dopo c'è troppa confusione.
