We booked our Explorer tour online the night before, having found information on in at our guesthouse. Booking (for 2 adults and 2 teens) was easy, and the road to the Cave was well marked. Before the tour, all participants get a hardhat with a...More

We travelled as a family of 6 (kids ages 17, 16, 14 and 11). Emilia, our wonderful guide, educated us about how the lava tube was formed and enchanted us with folklore about this cave and others in Iceland. Very interesting and well worth a...More

The lava tunnels are like nothing else we had seen before and the tour guides are very competent and able to engage everybody. There is a new staircase and platform that makes it very easy for people of every age and fitness level. Highly recommended!

We took the long Cave Master tour that takes you to the end of the cave. If you are interested in volcanic phenomenon, this is a must.

The Cave, which has recently switched management, was a great experience! The path through most of the tunnel is easy due to the brand new wooden path that was built in the spring. The guide was very knowledgable and gave a lot of information on...More

I first read about this in Lonely Planet. As a geologist and geophysicist, I was immediately excited about the idea of exploring a lava tube and made this a "must-do" on my trip to Iceland with my husband, brother and sister-in-law (not geologists) We signed...More
