An amazing underworld full of color awaits those who visit Viðgelmir lava cave. The Cave is 1585 meters long and is claimed to hold no rival in Iceland. With an all new walkway and permanent lighting system the first 700 meter can now be enjoyed with ease. This provides a cave that is family friendly. This trip was a Plan B, when Plan A got cancelled from weather. We are so glad it worked out for us! It was a smallish group of international people, we appreciated that from the start. The guide, Emilia, was 5*! She had great spunk,...More

This was one of the highlights of our holiday in Iceland. The cave itself is amazing but hearing how it formed it’s actually mind blowing. Our guide Egill was incredibly knowledgeable and also gave us a lot of facts about Iceland, not necessarily related to...More

Great guides, sturdy stairs and cavernous caves: the Cave delivers. Even if you’re not the most athletic, there are only about three flights of stairs to climb down and then up again. The guides provided plenty of great stories and photo ops to make sure...More

The lava cave tour is really worth a visit with our tour guide Emilia making it super interesting with her enthusiasm. Plan enough to get there from Húsafell especially if it has been snowing as the track is not cleared.

We loved this excursion. It was amazing and not overly expensive. It was a very long lava tube and we really enjoyed he geology of it.

The Cave is off the beaten path - need to travel down dirt roads to reach - but it is well worth the visit. There is a small welcome area with a few restrooms to use. The entrance is a short walk - maybe about...More

Víðgelmir lava cave is worth visiting. Emilia, our guide, had an upbeat sense of humour and also showed us different types of lava rocks. Scenic view in winter surrounded by snow. Inside the cave ice stalagmites had formed. An enchanting winter wonderland experience!

Really enjoyed our visit to this lava cave. The guide knew her stuff about the geology of volcanoes and lava and the cave was amazing. Great experience.

A nice tour to a lava tube and cave was informative, fun and memorable. Emilia, our tour guide was superb- kind and helpful beyond expectations (helped my 82 year old mother all the way through), knowledgable, fun and entertaining.

Our guide Maria was delightful and the experience was unique--heading deep down into a worm-like cave in the Icelandic lava fields formed 1100 years ago. Very cool. Our one suggestion would be to have a few more signs along the route indicating YES, you are...More

Their website is quoted in this listing, as well as their phone number and even a map, as usual, in TripAdvisor listings. Anyway, it's: thecave dot is.
