An amazing underworld full of color awaits those who visit Viðgelmir lava cave. The Cave is 1585 meters long and is claimed to hold no rival in Iceland. With an all new walkway and permanent lighting system the first 700 meter can now be enjoyed with ease. This provides a cave that is family friendly. A tour to the caves end is for those who desire more adventure.

A nice tour to a lava tube and cave was informative, fun and memorable. Emilia, our tour guide was superb- kind and helpful beyond expectations (helped my 82 year old mother all the way through), knowledgable, fun and entertaining.

Our guide Maria was delightful and the experience was unique--heading deep down into a worm-like cave in the Icelandic lava fields formed 1100 years ago. Very cool. Our one suggestion would be to have a few more signs along the route indicating YES, you are...More

Definitely one of the coolest and most unique caves I have been in anywhere in the world. The facility is super clean, the staff was very knowledgeable and the cave itself was memorizing (and safe, with both helmets and a wooden walkway). Our guide was...More

This is the 3rd of the 3 lava caves we visited in Iceland (also visited Raufarholshellir and Vatnshellir). I would say this is the best of the 3 we visited. This cave is the longest, and is the most walkable (they have built a wooden...More

We had an awesome time with Emilia. She was very informative and did a great job explaining how the cave came to be. This was a fantastic way to start our Ring Road adventure!

This was well worth the trip out! It was a little out of our way from our original plan but it was something we really wanted to do. It was the best price/for length of time that we could find and we could not have...More

I had already visited several lava tube caves in Iceland, but had never been to Víðgelmir. So I was very happy to find that on the day I was driving up North from Reykjavík there was an option to do the Cave Master tour which...More

We really enjoyed our visit to the cave. Great guide, we learned lots of things about lava. We went with our 1 and a half year old and it is very secure. He enjoyed walking along with his headlamp on. Didn't see the hour and...More

Today was well spent. We went on a great tour of the lava tube with guide Emilia. She brought together the perfect mixture of science, history, culture and comedy. Easily worth the money spent.

Their website is quoted in this listing, as well as their phone number and even a map, as usual, in TripAdvisor listings. Anyway, it's: thecave dot is.
