Our passion is fly fishing and our favorite place to do it is here in Yellowstone Country. Let us show you why! Arrick's offers half day and full day guided fly fishing trips. I booked fly fishing for my three kids (16, 14, and 11). This is the first time for all of them to try fly fishing. My expectation was fairly low and just expected that they learn what it's about. We were all pleasantly surprised by the result. First the scenery was absolutely wonderful, second our guide Zack was very patient and made sure everyone learned how to cast and had clear lines to hook the fish in. He was very friendly and upbeat. Third, the location was teaming with fish. All three caught fish with numerous bites, with my 14 year old daughter leading two of her brothers with 9 fish reeled in. The only downside is that this is fairly pricy $150 per person with the two older ones needing to get a Montana fishing license (we were from another state). We ended up spending almost $200 per kid but I thought it was worth it.

Arrick's Fly Shop provided an amazing fly fishing guided tour. They provided the gear, lunch, and transportation. The day we went fishing was too windy to use the boat. However, the experience we had on foot was spectacular. BJ was our fly fishing guide and he was excellent. He was really fun and patient with both my husband and I. We both have a lot of fishing experience but not a lot of fly fishing experience and he helped us the entire time. The lunch was also delicious. BJ tried really hard the entire time to make sure we were fishing properly and helped make sure we reeled in as many fish as we could. If you're thinking about fly fishing while you're in Montana, I would definitely recommend a guided tour from this fly shop. You won't be disappointed. They provide everything you could possibly need. They can't guarantee that you'll catch fish but the guide tried his hardest from start to finish to make sure we did. And we did!!

We had an absolutely wonderful time trying out fly fishing for the very first time. From the moment I first contacted Arrick via phone we felt like we were in the best of hands. I had found the glowing reviews online and am so happy I chose Arrick's Fly Shop. Since it was both my husband and my first time fly fishing Arrick recommended to start with a guided half day walk/wade tour so that's what we booked. Our guide Wyatt couldn't have been more lovely. He was extremely knowledgable and so much fun to follow around. He brought us to 4 different spots on the Madison River and we both caught 3 trouts each! We had so much fun and enjoyed this trip way more than we could've imagined! We are looking forward to our next trip next year and can't wait to book another fly-fishing trip with Arrick's!

We decided to try to escape the heat in Dallas for a trip to MT over Labor Day. I tried connecting with 3 different guide services as I always wanted to do a float trip (bucket list) and none of them would return calls. One even said that they were not taking any reservations due to COVID. At any rate the young man that answered the phone at Arrick's was very accomodating. We arrived at the shop on Saturday morning to take care of payment, licenses, etc. and were greeted by some enthusiastic young guys who were very helpful and introduced us to Wyatt, our victim - I mean guide, for the day. We jumped in his truck and headed out for our adventure. Wyatt reminded me of when I was a ski bum at his age, living the dream, without a care in the world except if I would have enough money to buy beer until next payday. He was informative, helped us by teaching some basic techniques and then off to slay the big ones :-). The whole time he made no promises as July seems to be the best time to fish and by Labor Day the trout had seen enough tourists and thrill seekers floating down the Madison. We did catch a few small trout and a couple of nice Mountain Whitefish so were not disappointed. After the trip and the next to last day of our vacation we reconnected with Wyatt to give him, and his roommates, all of our leftover food, cooler, beer, etc.. that had been overbought for our stay. Hopefully they ate well for several days. The only negative I recall (and hopefully the owners are taking this for the feedback it is meant to be) was that their website was really out of date with fishing reports, etc. that were over a year old. With so many millennials working at the shop perhaps you can delegate that task to one of them so you have updated information?

It sounds like you all had a great day out there and landed some nice fish too. It was fun reading your response and hearing you remininse of "your ski bum" days. We want you to know we hear your feedback about our online fishing report. We completely agree with you that part does need our attention for sure and we had every intention of keeping it up to date for everyone, it's just that last year and this year has put us, the owners, much more in the front end of the shop and while we would love for others to write the report, our team works in the shop and guides so they are very busy as well. This year of course has brought new and unique challenges as well with Covid and some things fell off our radar, as something had to give. We apologize our fishing report was not there for you. We are always available though for the visitors and customers via phone, email, and of course in the shop to offer advise and info, as well as a posted fishing report. We hope you understand and we are going to work to get back to fishing reports online. Thanks again for your 5 star review! We are happy you found our team friendly, and helpful on the phone and in person.

I hadn't fly fished in roughly 15 years so I was a little nervous about being in over my head with regard to the skill required on our 14 mile float on the Madison. Suffice to say, my fears were removed since the cast distance required was not great and the Rainbow Trout were very cooperative. I was fortunate enough to catch a Rainbow that Tom said was the largest he's seen in 4 years guiding on the Madison. I even have Go Pro footage of a Bull Moose in Velvet standing on the bank 12 feet away from our drift boat as we floated past this beauty. Tom was an incredible guide and incredible instructor. I plan to make this a more annual event as I've completely got the fly fishing bug right now. Hats off to Tom and the Team at Arricks a I got to know most of the staff as we shared my big fish pictures. Thank you for a trip of a lifetime. As someone that has fished with outfitters all across the world, I would highly recommend Arricks if you are looking for a top notch guiding service with great people who can coach anglers of all skill levels. Tight Lines.

My wife, daughter, daughter's boyfriend and I wanted to experience some fly-fishing in the Yellowstone area but only had a short time to do so. We contacted Arrick and he set us up with BJ Stone, guide extraordinaire!
BJ was very knowledgeable, patient and great to hang with, and he took us to some good spots on the Madison where we caught a number of fish, despite the time of day and time of year we were there (end of August).
Arrick was very accommodating, allowing my wife (who didn't fish) to come along for the adventure at no cost! I highly recommend Arrick's Fly Shop for guiding and equipment in the West Yellowstone area!

My 10 year old son and I were taken out for a wading trip on the Madison River, by our guide Wyatt in late September. Wyatt worked primarily with my son and he made a fly fisherman out of him. He also taught me a few tricks as well which I will be using in the future. He was very knowledgeable about what it takes to land the native whitefish and trout in the river. He rigged everything up for us and gave us tips on where to fish. Wyatt is a pleasant, patient guide with a friendly demeanor. I was able to bring in several fish, and also fought several more that didn’t quite make it into the net. My son loved bringing in his first fish on a fly rod and was soon back at it landing more fish. Wyatt definitely made it easy for me to fish as he was concentrating on my son and teaching him the right way how to fly fish. We chose to wade, but a float trip was an option. We all got in the boat to cross the river, and my son had a blast as “captain”. Overall, it was an amazing highlight of our week long trip to Yellowstone, which says a lot with all there is to do and see there. I can’t say enough good things about our guide and would highly recommend Arrick’s if you are looking to fly fish in the Yellowstone area whether you are a beginner or consider yourself to be an expert.

Thank you for sharing so much of your experience with us, we really enjoyed reading about you and your sons day with Wyatt. We love getting families especially kids out there in nature and fly fishing is an awesome way to do it! It sounds like your son now is hooked on fly fishing and is pretty good at it too! :) What a great activity in the outdoors for you both to do together now. Love the part about your son being "captain" too! That is so awesome! 1/2 day wade trip with Arrick’s and they were awesome! Everyone was super nice and extremely helpful. My wife, two kids (9 & 10) and myself all caught fish and the quality of fish were above average. Tom and Wyatt were our guides and I have absolutely no complaints. Two young men who were friendly, helpful and very patient not to mention they knew where the fish were! I couldn’t be happier with how our trip went. I highly recommend Arrick’s Fly Shop for an experience you will never forget.

I has a fantastic Float trip with guide Philip of Arrick's Fly Shop in West Yellowstone. Philip was an excellent guide, this was my first time on a drift boat and he helped me get to grips with presenting the Fly the best possible way. After a slow start we got on the fish and i released 9 fish including rainbows, cutthroat, whitefish and narrowly missed out on a couple of browns! Stunning location, top quality boat/tackle with an excellent guide who worked his tail off to make sure the day was a success, i could not ask for more.
Highly recommended and i will defintely look these guys up when i visit yellowstone again

We arrived in West Yellowstone in early May and looked forward to fishing the Madison River. Stopping in at Arrick's Fly Shop a few times we decided to book a guided trip. My girlfriend Lisa had never fly fished and has only fished a couple time in her life. We booked a full day float trip that turned out to be incredible! The guide had us right on the fish and we each caught five fish and probably lost at least that many on the trip. It was a great day and my girlfriend really loved fly fishing. So much so that she is now hooked!

Hello Beth,
We provide all the equipment with the guide trips. Waders, boots, rods, reels, all the flies you will use. When you come in for the guide trip we will get you all set up. When thinking about clothing for the trip think in layers as it's usually cold in morning and can get pretty warm in the afternoon. Try not to wear jeans, they aren't very comfortable under waders also wear socks as that makes it more comfortable too! Bring a rain jacket, hat, and sunglasses for eye protection when casting. :) If you have any questions or would like more help or info, give us a call at the shop or email us and we would be more than happy to help you out!

We are about one and a half hrs from Canyon. About 2 hrs from Lake Lodge.
