Yellowstone Alpen Guides has operated small group and private tours in Yellowstone for 29 years. Our naturalist/guides are experts in all things Yellowstone and are fun travel companions. They will help you experience the extraordinary wonders the Park has to offer during both winter and summer. Small group size guarantees you a personalized touch not found on most tours. A company with experienced long-term employees, we pay close attention to detail and quality and strive to be the premier guiding company in Yellowstone and the surrounding area. Join us as we explore this delicate ecosystem that is home to Old Faithful and two-thirds of the world’s geysers; where grizzly bears, wolves and other abundant wildlife roam freely. We cater to individuals, families with children and groups of all sizes. We have lodging and tour packages available; one call will take care of your Yellowstone vacation planning needs. Winter snowcoach tours operate daily to Old Faithful and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. We offer the option of cross-country skiing or snowshoeing on our trips, and customized charters are also available. We provide shuttle services to guests staying at the Old Faithful Snow Lodge, and offer charter service to the North* (Mammoth/Gardiner) and South* (Jackson Hole) gates of the Park. Our snowcoaches are the classic, historical bombardiers, modernized for comfort and low emissions, made for over-snow travel. Summer tours include Lower Loop, Evening Wildlife Safaris, kayak tours and private customized tours to meet your desires. Whether you are a first time Yellowstone visitor or are returning for your next adventure, we can help plan your itinerary. Your trip can include things like wildlife watching, a day hike to a backcountry geyser basin, a photography safari, swimming in a thermally heated river, and seeing the sites that make Yellowstone America’s grandest Park. Alpen Guides believes it is important to protect and preserve our national treasures. We generously donate to the worthy Yellowstone Park Foundation, the West Yellowstone Foundation, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Trout Unlimited, and many other organizations dedicated to protecting the environment.

An amazing educator. We had him for an entire day on a private tour. He was incredibly knowledgeable and great with our kids. We saw parts of the park which we would never have ventured into without him. He set the pace according to what we were comfortable with. If you do decide to opt for a private tour, suggest... More

We took an 8 hour evening wildlife tour with Dave Adler as guide. We enjoyed every minute. There were only four of us and we lucked out having two fun young NY women with us. Dave knows a lot about the history, geology, wildlife and we saw a lot of variety. We didn't see as many different animals as hoped,... More

A girlfriend and I were fortunate enough to book a tour with Alepn Guides and experience Yellowstone in all it's glory! We saw several wildlife, perhaps not as much as we would have hoped for, but certainly no complaints whatsoever. The views were breathtaking and we had a small group which made for a nice time together. Dave, our tour... More

Yellowstone is in Montana and Wyoming, and has 4,900 bison on public land. President Obama decreed the bison to be the country's national mammal this month. There are 30,000 bison in 5 National parks. You can take Alpen guides on tour about the park..

Had a delightful day bumping along in a part-ski/part-snow cat vehicle! Guide was pleasant and knowledgeable about the park. Very accommodating for photographs along the way. Having the "sun roof" open was very helpful for getting good bison shots! Dress in layers, as these vehicles aren't too warm. You aren't in seats, but rather sitting around in a circle in... More

We ended up just being 3 of us in the snow vehicle and it was perfect! we could stick our head out the window when we wanted to see the bison and geysers. Our guide Les was extremely knowledgeable as he had worked for Yellowstone for 28 years. It was such a great way to see the park without all... More

Really enjoyed the 1952 tour snow vehicle. Seats about 8 people comfortably. Liked the ability to stand up and look out the roof hatch. Made picture taking convenient. Reasonably smooth ride. A little noisy but still able to carry on a conversation. We did the optional snowshoe hike from Biscuit Basin to Old Faithful. Well worth it. We are slow... More

Took the Yellowstone Canyon Tour with John L. They pick you up around 8:45am in a big van at your hotel and drive you to the entrance of Yellowstone where you hop in their red buggy. Each buggy holds 7 passengers (small group compared to most other tour companies). You can either bring your own lunch or you can order... More

My brother and I brought my dad along for his first trip out west. We only had a few days and wanted to take full advantage of every day. A winter tour of Yellowstone with the Alpen Guides was the perfect day long activity. Our guide, John, made the excursion pretty special. He prefaced the trip by saying he can... More

A winter trip into Old Faithful was on the bucket list and we chose this outfit based on other reviews. The red "bombs" are fun, especially with the retractable roofs for photography. Our guide, Brenda, was upbeat and knowledgeable and we are so glad we had her as guide. We were never rushed and felt our day in the park... More
