The staff was very helpful. No problem there. The actual ride , the scenery was all woods, which made it kind of boring on a trail ride. Because of the mud squishing , most of us could not hear our wrangler explain features we were riding. It would have been nice to get a

My husband & I took a 2 hour trail ride that was really slow and on a trail with no view of Montana or Glacier. The horses were well behaved & knew the trail...I am not sure we even needed to be in the horse. We were looking forward to the cookout but the steaks were overcooked

Two wonderful full day rides in Glacier National Park. We booked the first full day ride at Many Glacier. Swan Mountain says that they work with the Park service to decide whether they can take riders to Poia lake or cracker lake. Cracker lake is more popular, so naturally, our

Need to be very familiar with primitive camping and long days on horseback. Trails are very steep and rocky. Staff was wonderful. Camp itself was not well maintained. Took the 5 day pack trip with my Son. I have ridden horses all my life in the Smoky mountains and these trails

Hi Kenney30132, Thanks for the feedback, great to hear you had a wonderful time during your five day pack trip! Our pack trips take place within the Flathead National Forest and the Bob Marshall Wilderness, they are wilderness trips boasting rustic accommodations, thus the five-star hotel within designated wilderness areas just don't exist! Yes, our guests sleep in canvas wall tents, it's part of what makes the experience "backcountry Montana". Our Lion Creek pack trips start from our base camp in Condon, guests then ride-in on horseback to a second "upper" base camp which is over 12 miles from anything connected with civilization. From upper camp, guides and guests can choose to take day trips farther into the Bob Marshall Wilderness to ride, hike, or fish. All of the pack trip supplies are carried to upper camp on the backs of mules. Our upper base camp location is about as primitive as you can get, while still providing all the pampering by our guides and chefs. People just love this experience! Many pack trip guests return year-after-year because the experience is five-star, and the wildness of the Bob Marshall is just what they seek, to get away from it all. It's true, the terrain is rugged, even untamed, and the trails are backcountry, and in the mountains. Even some experienced horseback riders are not accustomed to the type of riding terrain found in our Montana mountains. Though, several first-time and beginner riders have taken three to seven day pack trips with delight. Our horses are strong, well-taken care of mountain horses that know the trails very well. They live outside, and thrive in this environment. Summer pack trips are open to all levels of riders, though we encourage future guests to call us with questions to decide which trips are appropriate for your unique experience. We want people to love Montana as much as we do, and it is exceptional to see it from behind the ears of a horse! Happy Trails, Swan Mountain Outfitters
