We did the wine and cheese trek with Jace. It was a great experience. The llamas really have their own personalities unlike any other animals I have met. They make these funny humming noises when they are anxious or excited. The animals are very well behaved- my 7 year old had no issues walking hers. We took a nice walk through the woods and then Jace took out a folding table and chairs where we had snacks and wine. There were drinks for the kids too. We hung out and had a nice chat and got to spend some time with the llamas. The only thing that was annoying was the bugs - they were a bit brutal - but Jace had bug spray that kept them at bay for a bit. I would recommend wearing long clothing and lots of bug spray. It’s one of those experiences you just have to do once! The ride from Whitefish took about 1.5 hours but the scenery was so beautiful we didn’t mind. Jace was very knowledgeable about the animals and the area and great with the kids. Definitely recommend!

Our family of 4 (two boys are 18 and 20) did the full day llama trek with Jace. When we arrived, Jace had the llamas in the trailer all ready to go. We got into the large SUV and rode with Jace up the mountain. It's about a 45 minute drive on a rather bumpy road, but Jace is such a great conversationalist, you really don't notice! After arriving at the top of the trail, Jace got the llamas out of the trailer and told us we could decide who walked with which llama. Our llamas were Nationwide, Raffi, Jingles, and Popeye, each of whom had their own personality, and each one was just delightful. The llamas were wonderful company on the trail. They walk behind you and crane their neck to the side to be able to see over your shoulder, which makes for a hilarious picture from the back. They like to snack along the trail and need a fairly frequent number of breaks, but this works out fine because it allows the hikers to rest and/or get a drink, as well. The scenery on the full day trail (the Napa Lookout trail) was jaw dropping. We hiked along a ridge with miles of gorgeous scenery out in front of us, as well as many wildflowers. When the llamas needed a break, we just enjoyed the scenery. We stopped for lunch, and Jace got out some folding chairs for us. (The llamas carry all of the gear in their saddlebags). The lunches he had prepared for us were delicious. Jace was so knowledgable about the area and the llamas, and really enjoyed sharing his knowledge with us. Since it was just us and our guide, he allowed us to decide how far we would go. I believe we hiked about 7 miles round trip (it's an out and back trail). We really miss the llamas, and would encourage anyone considering this activity to go for it! You'll have so much fun.

My boyfriend and I had an absolutely amazing experience trekking with llamas and I even proposed to him during the expedition! I can't thank the staff enough for being so incredibly thoughtful, helpful, and supportive. We are likely getting married in Montana and are definitely coming back for more fun at the Swan Mountain Ranch. Literally cannot recommend it any more highly!!!

My family of 4 had a GREAT time on our morning half day llama trek. Our guide was Stephanie and she was SUPER nice, funny, and friendly. She definitely made this trip extra special for us!

The llamas were all so friendly and very safe! They definitely made this hike special!

We stopped by a waterfall and had a nice sandwich lunch there.

Definitely recommend this trip to anyone!

We did the wine and cheese hike as I was not sure I could do the full hike. glad I didn't try it on my 4 month old new knee!. This was perfect. a nice easy walk with a stream crossing. The people on the phone were very helpful in describing the terrain so I knew what to expect and could pick a hike that was doable for me. the Llamas are adorable. They don't spit!!! everyone got to lead a llama one way on the hike. It was a unique experience i would recommend. Be aware that you have to drive several miles on an unpaved road. Our rental sedan was not ideal but we made it!

Once in a lifetime experience, our group got to hike with several llamas including Boxcar, Robust, Raffi, Tamarack and all their friends. It was so fun and different interacting with the llamas on a hike. We did the half day hike with a lunch and ate lunch at a quiet waterfall! So relaxing and made for a great first day of our trip. Our guide Kent was great and knew a lot about the llamas! Must do.

Once in a lifetime experience trekking 4.5 miles through the hills with llamas walking not riding them . Gentle animals and obedient.

Gabe was our tour guide and was great. Took time to take photos whenever we wanted along with breaks.

Lunch was provided at a waterfall which just added to the experience. If given an opportunity in your next trip to Montana highly recommend.

My family and I went on the half-day trek, and we had a great time. The llamas were so well behaved and easy to hike with. Everyone had their own llama! My llama, Woppity, was so cute! Austin, our guide, was knowledgeable, helpful, and kind. He taught us a lot about the llamas, which was really interesting. The hike itself was a little challenging for me with plenty of uphill. But Austin let us rest as much as we needed, so it wasn’t a problem. For my fellow fat travelers, I highly recommend this company. I never felt pressured or guilted into walking at a pace I wasn’t comfortable with. The waterfall we hiked to to was lovely, and the sandwiches they provided for lunch were delicious. All in all, it was a great experience! Spend some time outdoors, meet some llamas, take some photos! Go llama trekking!

What a wonderful experience on our half day llama trek with Austin! The llamas were cute and friendly and did well with all of our girls (ages 13, 10, 8). The trek had a fair amount of incline but was not too difficult at all. We really enjoyed our picnic lunch by the waterfall was peaceful and so beautiful. Thank you to Austin and all the wonderful llamas (Robusto, Popeye, Mayfly, Jingles- just to name a few)
