After driving the dirt road for 12 miles, you reach the trailhead complete with a toilet. The hike to the fire lookout is 3.6 miles up. The trail is easy to follow but is a continual grade up. Towards the top there is no shade...More

Most trail guides rate this hike as moderate, but for me it's closer to strenuous - the final 1/2 mile inclines steeply and you're teased at seeing the tower that the trek is finished.....but that final stretch after 3 miles of moderate climb can be...More

Once you're at the top, the view is awesome! If the lookout tower is open, you can take a tour of the tower too. It's a great trip into the history of how the lookout towers were years ago. The trail can be steep going...More

LOVED this hike. Not terribly challenging, but a great reward at the end. You can see for miles! Bring a wind breaker as it gets chilly and super windy at the top. The hike doesn't take very long, but the drive in does. Don't underestimate...More

This road to the trailhead is about 7 very bumpy miles. Make sure you have a vehicle that can handle this terrain. We hiked in mid June and the weather was perfect. It was challenging and we had some slippery snow to hike through, but...More

We hit it on a great day 70 degrees, sunny and dry. Little breeze. The road going up to the trail is a bit rough, but it's pretty. Saw a young buck and several deer. It is a moderate hike, it's a bit steep. But the...More
