YHM was amazing! They set us up with a great campsite on fairly short notice, and really knocked it out of the park (pun intended!) The horses and mules were sweet, tolerant of people that don't ride every day, and like attention. Our tent had great views, comfy mattress pads, and warm sleeping bags. Mo, Chase and Lars are so welcoming that it didn't even feel like we were strangers. The food was amazing (pulled pork! Steaks! Apple crisp! HUCKLEBERRY pancakes!!!!)
We rode every day, did some fly fishing, picked the above mentioned huckleberries, and got to truly relax in a beautiful place. Mostly, we just had fun!
Logistically, YHM is on top of it- responses to every email or call (it may take a day or two if they're out of service, but you WILL get an answer), Lars was early to our meeting place, and every detail other than our personal clothing and fishing license was taken care of.
We did not want to leave, and will be return customers.
We rode every day, did some fly fishing, picked the above mentioned huckleberries, and got to truly relax in a beautiful place. Mostly, we just had fun!

Yellowstone Horse and Mule was an excellent outfitter for my trip! We planned a mother daughter bucket list trip to horse pack into Yellowstone and were not disappointed. Chase and Maureen had excellent communication as I researched trips, dates, and options, with quick responses and friendly/helpful suggestions. Pricing was reasonable and booking was easy.
The trip was beautiful, with unbelievable scenery. The daily rides were the right length and difficulty for us as casual riders (and one as a senior citizen and the other family had a 7 year old!). The horses and mules were patient, well trained, affectionate, and clearly well loved by YHM. Chase, Maureen, and Claire were good companions for our trip, offering up botany, history, tasty campfire cowboy grub, horsemanship advice, and camping best practices. The gear was in great condition and the mattress pads they pack made our camping sleep some of the best sleep we've had in a long while.
There is a lot of downtime, especially before dinner, so bring some books, drawing/watercolors, card games, etc. Binoculars also highly recommended for wildlife sightings.

Once in a lifetime experience. Not too many people get the opportunity to go deep into the back country of Yellowstone and spend multiple nights to take it all in. Chase and Maureen do a wonderful job of accommodating guests. No matter how experienced you are horse/ mule riding they will guide you and make you feel like an expert rider. Chase is also is a great flyfishing guide and will make sure you are ready to have a successful day on the river. The food and service they provide is top level. (Maureen makes delicious snacks and desserts and will accommodate any special requests). I cannot say enough good things about Yellowstone Horse and Mule. I will definitely be coming back and I have been recommending them to all my friends and family.

Holy s*&t!! What a trip! We spent an entire day with Mo and Lars, exploring the backcountry and basking in views few have seen. We made our own trail to ascend to locations occupied only by elk and bears with no signs of human traffic to enjoy views of the park I have not seen on any site. Great guides with tons of knowledge and personality, great sandwiches and lunch, made this trip so much more than was expected.

Our pack trip with Maureen and Chase was everything we hoped for and more. Equipment was in excellent condition and they took care of everything unless we asked to do it ourselves. They accompanied us on all of our side trips and pointed out lots of beautiful landscapes, animals and flowers. Food was fantastic and in abundance! They made sure we were as comfortable as possible. And the horses and mules were endless entertainment and well behaved. Definitely book with them if you are looking for spending time with guides who truly love their jobs, animals and wilderness!

Yellowstone Horse and Mule provided my family with a memorable and exciting horse ride in the Yellowstone backcountry. Our wrangler was very fun and informative. We highly recommend this outfitter and we can’t wait to go again!

During September, my group of three were treated to a fabulous guided horse pack trip in the Beartooth Mountains of Montana. We chose Yellowstone Horse and Mule to guide our trip after reviewing and interviewing 3 separate outfitters. We have no regrets! A three day ride was coordinated for myself, my husband and my 11 year old granddaughter. For me it was a long-awaited dream. I was especially impressed with how our two female guides included my granddaughter in many of their camp duties, letting her groom and help handle the horses and answering her many questions, always with a smile. These acts of kindness truly made this a trip she'll remember for a lifetime. The YHM team is fully competent in every way. The meals were excellent, the animals well cared for and treated as true partners, and the guides made every preparation for our comfort whether it was sleeping, riding or enjoying the campfire. In my adult life, I have rarely run across two people with a deeper work ethic. Their desire to make our trip memorable took some really hard work on their parts. I would recommend to anyone considering this kind of "adventure vacation" to consider the services of YHM. They are to be commended for their solid service and devotion to what they do.
