About
When Lewis & Clark and the Corps of Discovery set out to map the uncharted route and the waterways leading to the Pacific Ocean in 1803, they did so with courage, precision and above all else an undying thirst for adventure. Lewis & Clark Trail Adventures has been the leader in connecting travelers to the rivers & trails of the historic expedition of Lewis & Clark through Montana & Idaho. We offer whitewater rafting trips on the Alberton Gorge, Lochsa and Blackfoot Rivers, Town floats on the Clark Fork River, Multi-day Wilderness River trips on the Salmon River, Historical Canoe trips on the Missouri river and hiking trips on the Lolo Trail. We offer active adventures with a personal touch. We take pride in the fact that many of our guests have been with us before and return for new adventures. Whatever your adventure: paddling a canoe, the thrill of whitwater or gazing across the rugged Bitterroot range after a long hike on the Lolo Trail, you will remember meals prepared with care, time shared with old friends and new and the rejuvenating feeling that only comes from spending a week in the wilderness.Owners Wayne & Gia Fairchild invite you to join in the adventures along the Lewis & Clark Trail!

It was our family’s first time rafting (kids 13 & 11) and we had a blast. Our guide, Brendan, had a calming and confident personality to help relax our son’s nervous energy around the size of the rapids. By the end of the trip, our son’s river confidence had switched and he was jumping off the boat into the Clark Forks’ cooling waters. My 13 yr old wants to come back next summer for a full day trip!

We did the Blackfoot with Brandon and absolutely loved it. He was an expert guide who knew exactly how to hit the rapids so we’d get a thrill, and splash, without going in. We loved our whole experience with Lewis and a Clark and would highly recommend this group! Definitely wear non-cotton, quick drying layers, and if going in June be prepared to be chilly!

I booked my husband and my two teenagers on a half day white water rafting trip to the Alberton Gorge. I called a couple of times before reservation and the owners were very patient and helpful. When I picked up my family after their trip, my daughter's first response was "you have to give them a good review":-) Needless to say, they had a great time. The guides were experienced, fun and very friendly.

Just like many other tour operators, they are having a very challenging time with the health crisis. Please support them by booking a tour if you are visiting Missoula.

These people are freaking fabulous! I just spent the day rafting 20 miles down the Lochsa River through some of the most breathtakingly beautiful scenery I have ever experienced. Our guides, Brandon, Michael, and Blake, did an excellent job making us feel safe, and aware of all the potential dangers and hazards. Their skill and experience allowed us to enjoy ourselves fully because we knew we were in very competent hands. Honestly I was hung over from too much saki in Missoula, and I THRILLED when I saw what our guides had prepared for lunch. Delicious chicken skewers, mixed green salad, pasta salad with olive oil and Italian seasoning, potato salad and watermelon and cookies for desert. And the guides were kind enough to serve us as well. The bus ride to the lodge was fun (the bus driver was super chill as well), but ride back was even better. This was my first time white water rafting, and my first time in Montana and Idaho, but I'm definitely coming back next year. And there's no way I would tour with anyone but the fellas at Lewis and Clark. To the folks at the Lewis & Clark Brewery you should absolutely be sponsoring these tours with with free beer for the bus ride back to the lodge. And for the owners of the tour company your staff is a bargain at twice the price. We will tour with you again, so give those boys a raise!!! And THANK YOU for an unbelievable experience!

My husband and I took our kids, age 7 and 9, on a half day rafting trip. Our guide, Kyle, was amazing. He was very knowledgeable about rafting, as we expected, but he also taught us about the history of the area, the river, the cliffs and everything on the river. The raft was in great shape, the equipment was adequate, and we felt completely safe. It was very apparent that Kyle has been doing this for a long time, and he was patient and easy to work with. It was overall a great experience, the kids and adults all loved it.

This company does a fabulous job in all respects including staying in touch after we booked the trip, to making sure we were prepared, to expertly guiding our raft through the rapids. Our guides were super fun and entertaining and, as I mentioned, expertly guided us through the tricky part of the rapids ensuring a safe and fun experience for all. We could not have enjoyed our experience any more.

We took our family of 5 and had the time of our lives. It was beautiful, stress free, fun, and memorable. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. I was expecting a "brown bag lunch" nope, it was pretty close to gourmet. Grilled chicken, spinach salad, rolls, pasta salad, quinoa salad and a chocolate chip cookie to finish it off. The bus ride was quick and organized. I would highly recommend Lewis and Clark to anyone in the Missoula area.

We did the 12 mile whitewater raft trip on the Clark Fork. Dan was a great guide. We all loved it! Including my 76 yr old mom. The bus ride to the float was 45 mins or so. Just fyi for planning purposes. The rapids were fun and Dan pulled over and allowed our kids to jump off a big boulder

This was an amazing family vacation for me and my adult sons. We'd camped and rafted before when they were in Boy Scouts, but it was so nice to have someone else cook deliciously healthy meals in the most scenic campsites along the river. The staff were enthusiastic, encouraging, positive and just a lot of fun, while still practicing universal precautions to keep everyone safe. You can be as active or sedentary as you want, while enjoying the beauty of the Salmon River. We were sad when the week was over.
