The most beautiful lake West of the Mississipi. Flathead Lake is a pristine glacier lake that is beautiful to behold. The State Park offers picnicking, swimming and there is a public boat ramp. A beatiful place to be all year.

Both seasons are good time to visit. Art, theatre, coffee, dining all in a couple blocks. Great to wander around.

Excellent, big views of the Swan Valley and the surrounding mountains. Worth spending 1/2 day exploring the park.

This is my favorite state park in Montana! Located on the northeast shore of Flathead Lake just south of Bigfork, the shoreline has abundant smooth stones of nearly every color and the water is crystal clear: a great swimming spot in the summer. Trails leading...More

Well worth the visit. It's a long ways to drive around the entire lake. We saw it from Big Fork and on another drive, we saw it passing through Polson.

More boats than anything else. It was a hot afternoon. We didn't stay long. Just a quick visit before driving to Glacier National Park. I think this review would have more than average had I written it prior to seeing Glacier. Parking is very limited....More

We drove around the entire lake, and it is HUGE! I never knew Montana had lakes of this size, it's over 500 feet deep and crystal clear as far as we could see.

Maybe not relevant for you now, but for others wondering the same thing, camping is $28/night, but if you buy a state park pass (valid for 1 year) for $35 you get camping for $18/night, so if you're staying more than 3... More

West Shore State Park is about 10 miles south of Kalispell. It is north of Wild Horse State Park which is on an island in Flathead Lake. Both are in the Flathead Lake Park System. Hope that helps.
