Kids loved this hike. Really nice views from the top. The road driving up was also fun. If you think gttsr is tight wait till you drive this road. My wife was ready to jump out and walk. kids were loving it though. The guy that stayed the night there was heading down as we were hiking up so we had the place all to ourselves. Beautiful.

This is such a beautiful area and going to this Lookout gets you a perspective on the lay of the land. The mountains and lakes are so surreal and the air is so fresh. WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!

You can book the lookout for a night via recreation, gov, which is what our family did. We backpacked up a reasonably good trail from a forest road (read gravel) and camped in the lookout, which we shared with a few mice. There are no beds nor power, so it is basically a camping trip without the need for a tent. There are no beds - so bring sleeping pads. Naturally, the lookout is positioned to see a lot of the surrounding mountains. We very much enjoyed the sunset and sunrise. The Milky Way is very bright with the elevation, clean air, and no light environment. Deer approached the lookout in early evening, providing an initial slight scare, but ultimately much entertainment.

This was our second fire tower stay - what a neat adventure! It is a journey on unpaved roads to the trailhead, a mile uphill hike, and then a wonderful 360 degree panoramic view. You can reserve the lookout for an overnight stay. The lookout is equipped with two cots, camp stove, fire ring, and pit toilet. You'll need to bring your own food, water, possibly propane canister, sleeping bags and flashlights. There is a second story loft to view the surroundings and some great journals of the lookout's history and prior guests. There are lots of bees, bugs, and bear spray is recommended in this area. The evening views are beyond description!
