Depending on the time you put in, you can usually walk away with a pretty good bag of goodies! It's exciting to go through raw material to find treasures, but you need to have a large chunk of time to do it right. If you don't have enough time to spend right there, you can pack up your bag of... More

We spent a few hours at the Spokane Bar Sapphire Mine last Monday and had a lot of fun screening alluvial gravel for sapphires! Crystal was very helpful and showed us what we could find in addition to sapphires, during our screening process. We did find a very nice 6.15 carat blueish sapphire!! in our 1 Mother Lode bag, which... More

Our kids loved searching for jewels in the gravel. They even found some and may order earrings to be made! The employee was very friendly and made them feel welcome. We all have a greater appreciation for the natural beauty and resources this state holds.

What a great way to spend a day We went on the day we were flying home after our trip to Yellowstone. My boyfriend and I have always wanted to do some sort of mining so I found this place only an hour north of the Bozeman airport. When we arrived we were greeted by a very nice guy who... More

My wife and I stopped by last summer while travelling through the NW. It was already late afternoon so didn't have a lot of time to spend at the store. I did go to the "Dig your own bucket" location and brought a 5 gal bucket of gravel back with me. Washed just a couple of scoops and it was... More

We dug for Sapphires for our anniversary and found quite a few. The range of colors is greater than other places we have dug. Highly recommend.

Me and my husband went up there Thursday and bought 3 bags of Mother Load dirt, and came out with some REALLY poor quality sapphires and very few. Very disappointed in it cause we saw tons of good reviews and everything and we're planning on making another trip up there, but have changed our mind due to this. The only... More

My teen son wanted to try the sapphire mining after the fun we had garnet mining on the way to Virginia City. I guess the best sapphire mining is in philipsburg, MT, but we didn't have time to go there so we tried this place. Very nice people. Nice view of the lake. Bag of dirt was expensive-about $100, but... More

So I wondered about sapphire mining and went having a great time. I was more in it for the experience and I paid $10 to go up to the mine dig a 5 gallon bucket of pay dirt. Then I came down and sifted it looking for gems. We found one. I invested about 2 hours in the process and... More
