Our kids love the Parrot, and ask to be taken there on special outings with Mom and Dad. When my Mom visits Helena from time to time, she loves the old fashioned feel of the place and the timeless style that is unspoiled by decades of passe trends.

Went to visit for the candy, stayed for lunch. Had their tamale with chili. Best chili I have ever had, but did not resemble what you normally think of chili; no beans, smoother texture, and tamales to die for. I wish they would share their chili recipe, so I could recreate it. I would even learn how to make tamales... More

This is an authentic soda fountain and candy shop. Was a great place to visit and buy some treats. Very fun. Would highly recommend.

The place is really 3 things in one – a chocolate shop, an old fashioned soda fountain (with bar) and a little restaurant. We tried the chocolates and the soda fountain and were impressed. Soda fountain – so many options. They have malts, sodas and phosphates. It seems like they have limitless options and the staff is very helpful in... More

Since 1910, The Parrot has offered up amazing sweets, great chili, and real fountain drinks. My parents had dates at this place in the 60's. The Parrot hasn't changed after all these years, and that's a wonderful thing. It's one of those places we hope never goes away. If you're in Helena, stop by a locally owned and operated establishment... More

This was a childhood favorite for me. I moved away but make sure that I come back every summer while I am in town. I even have them mail me a little something special during the winter. This is the quintessential old fashion candy shop. They don't have much actual food so don't come expecting a full meal. This is... More

Oh my a chocoholic's dream. Every kinda of confection plus Ice cream and old fashioned sodas. My husband's family sent care packages overseas to him when he was serving in Germany. A taste of home.

On a suggestion from someone we decided to stop in here on our roundabout of Montana. Smell of the place is heavenly if you are a chocolate fan. Would I live anywhere near there I would be there on a daily basis and hardly be able to fit my fat butt through the door. They have some delectable creations. The... More

Some of my earliest memories growing up in Helena were sitting in a booth at The Parrott with my parents and grandparents, eating chili and chocolate. As a fifth generation Helenan, I imagined my great and great great grandparents sitting in the same booths. Several years ago I moved away to New England. This year, when it came time send... More

Absolutely charming shop, visit even if you aren't going to make a purchase. The décor is great, a complete time warp!
