We entered the Mighty Mo via the town of Craig. The scenery and wildlife are spectacular. It's a great river for fly fishing and/or a raft float. The staff at Cross Currents Fly Shop were super helpful in renting us our raft and running our shuttle. Cannot say enough about our great fishing guide Taylor. For the first timers he... More

The significance of the Missouri River is unparalleled in American History. Lewis and Clark, trappers, traders, Indian dug out canoes, Paddle Steamers, modern camping, fishing, boating etc. It thrills me overtime I see this river.

This was a wonderful surprise as we visited Helena. It is probably closed for the season now, but if you visit Helena, be sure to include this attraction to your list. It's wonderfully informative and scenic and the "gate" is amazing!

I have been on outing to the Missouri River many times on rafts, and in kayaks I have never not had a good day. The scenery is beautiful, even with many others on the river it still manages to give you the feeling of peace and solitude. It can be great fun to play on the many "islands" found along... More

You do not need 4WD, but a Class C RV has not place to park at the dam. The road is hard packed gravel but very narrow. Stunning views of the river and the lake at the dam. BLM park before you head down the road so a nice place to picnic.

When we went to see if Gates of the Mountain was open for the year (it wasn't) we saw the Missouri. We wondered what pioneers and explorers must have thought when they reached such a lovely place.

All we did was kayak and hiking and it was excellent, peaceful and truly enjoyable, plenty of wild life and the fresh air is awesome.

We went to the river and did a boat tour. The view and the nature are outrageous. It is sort of meditation & relaxation in the nature where you can have some time alone. It is a must

I wish I kept the guys info and could find him on TA. My boss and I took a guided fishing trip. This was my first time fly fishing and I expected to catch zero fish and probably give up. The guide was great and fun to kid around with. The scenery was wonderful and I caught several fish. I... More

The "Mighty Mo" is an excellent trout fishery. It has plenty of wading access but it's best fished from a boat. I've fished the Bighorn, Gallatin, Madison, etc but so far the Missouri takes the gold. Tip: to avoid the crowds stay away from the upper section of the river and fish the canyon. You will be rewarded with beautiful... More
