Lots of cool shops, history and places to eat. A must-see if you're visiting Helena. You can't visit without hitting Big Dipper Ice Cream!

The area is ok, but not very popular, apparently. All the brochures show it hopping, but we didn't find that to be true. We were there on a weekend and on a weekday. Nice weather, but not much happening. Some restaurants open. We ate at Bert & Ernies. That was yummy!

Very well done and some very nice shops and eating establishments in this area. They have done a really good job of preserving some of the history of the area

The downtown walking mall is the restored historic business area of Helena. it is a mixture of restored old buildings and modern, new businesses (shops and restaurants). It is ideal for a walk all the way to Reeder's Alley. There are also some very nice art items to look at. Along the way you can learn about the town's history... More

I usually visit the Gulch to checkout an antique shop that my wife and I frequent. The Gulch is an easy trip with some nice places to check out when you have some time on your hands.

Walking up and down this street and get a feeling of what Helena was in its heyday. Amazing architecture, and many wonderful galleries of fine arts. Also the best cooking store we have found, with knowledgeable staff, and reasonable prices.

This area was a largely unexpected surprise. If you like (like I do) whimsical 19th century architecture, this strip has an amazing collection of some wonderful stone facade works - mostly with well-written information plaques attached. Interesting non-chain small shops...and plenty of dining opportunities. Well-worth a visit. If possible, try to time your visit to their farmer's market day (not... More

If you love history and wonder what an older town was like years ago this is a great part of our city to visit. It has almost anything you can imagine.

The Last Chance Gulch walking mall in downtown Helena is a great way to spend some time, learn some history and do a little shopping. The friends we were visiting started our tour of downtown there. It's accessible and includes the interesting history of the area as well as interesting architecture. Great venue for summer activities. Good access to motels,... More
