As comrades in the touring business, I've known Evan for over a decade. I contracted him to run a private Yellowstone Wildlife tour when I brought my tour group to Yellowstone. He created an amazing tour through Yellowstone telling hilarious stories and imparting interesting information not only about the park and the animals, but also about the issues these animals face with climate change, hunting, and illegal poaching. He is a strong advocate for these animals and their protection. You will leave the tour with a greater appreciation for the special ecosystem that is Yellowstone, a desire to protect these lands and animals, and a memory of a wonderful day in the park. A must do for anyone who really wants to dig into Yellowstone and see a part of it that isn't always easy to find on your own.

I'm a professional tour leader and I've brought many groups through Yellowstone over the last 20 years. One of the best experiences I ever had in the park was the day my group spent with Evan, viewing wildlife in the Lamar Valley. Evan was prompt, courteous and extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife, where the best viewing locations would be and the flora and fauna of the region. He regaled my passengers and I with stories of the animals, past wildlife encounters and even the history of the Native Americans from the region and of the park itself. If you're considering going with a tour guide while you're in Yellowstone, I would highly recommend Yellowstone Wildlife Guide Company. You won't be disappointed.

There are as many ways to experience Yellowstone National Park as there are individuals trying to do so. I won’t pretend to know what others want, but in case you desire to go out into the park with a guide who has the knowledge base to provide you fascinating information about most any topic you desire, I can recommend Evan Stout. I personally really enjoy winter in Yellowstone, but almost any time in the park affords it’s own unique magic. This is my 3rd trip with Evan, and each one has left me with indelible memories of not only wildlife viewing, but topics upon which I carry home and muse about going forward. His instincts are keen about the movement of wildlife and their habits as relates to weather patterns and other influences. He presents information that meets his clients where they are. Whatever your goals are for time spent in the magical space known as Yellowstone, I really believe you will likely find them met with Evan’s company. He is a business person for sure, working hard to earn a living, but his choice to guide is about more than that as he has, along with others, been a strong wildlife advocate, most especially for wolves. If you find yourself wanting a professional guide to learn aspects of Yellowstone you can’t discover solely on you own, I hope you will look at Evan’s website and consider hiring him. You won’t be disappointed.

Beyond Expectations! 5 adults could not have experienced a better tour. We spent 2 days in Yellowstone with Evan who enthusiastically shared his passion for all things Yellowstone, especially the wildlife. We were so impressed with his depth of knowledge exhibited through his captivating stories and intuition. Never would we have seen the wildlife or experienced the park the way we did without Evan.
He was early, provided a very clean and comfortable vehicle, with tons of snacks and beverages. Day 1 we saw the beautiful landscape of the park and day 2 he focused on wildlife. We saw lots of grizzlies, wolves, moose, dear, elk, mountain goats, herds of bison and many bird varieties. His equipment was top of the line- 5 scopes adjusted for 5 different heights. Evan sincerely cared about our experience. He went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. Don’t hesitate to hire Evan. He will not disappoint!

If you haven't booked a wildlife guide for Yellowstone yet then look no further than Evan at Yellowstone Wildlife Guide Company. Having just returned to Scotland from my 24th trip to Yellowstone I can take time to reflect on my 3rd outing (a total of 9 days) in the park with Evan. From the moment Evan picks you up he is 'on it' with the goal to make your day as enjoyable and educational as he possibly can. Having visited so many times over the years I always set out on a wildlife watching day with no expectations - wildlife will either be there or not - however Evan considers each trip to be a personal mission to find animals and he's pretty good at it!!! On this trip Evan demonstrated remarkable timing, getting us into position for amazing wolf sightings, and a bear cub sighting (yes, in February!) right on cue! Travel is in a large, comfortable vehicle. Breakfast is a tasty scone and I'd highly recommend a hot chocolate. The spotting scopes are top of the range. I can guarantee that you will have an amazing time with Evan but 'shh', don't tell everyone!

My wife, adult daughter and I had a great experience with Evan as our guide. It started with the early morning pick up from where we were staying at Mammoth Hot Springs. The equipment Evan provides and his expertise makes it possible to see wildlife within their natural environment doing their normal activities. Momma wolves waking up with their pups. Pups playing, following their mom, a mountain goat up on a snow caped ridge with her kid and many other sightings . We started early (5 am) and ended in the early afternoon. The snacks, scones and fruits provided were filling enough to count as breakfast and lunch. In addition to his ability to locate wildlife, Even has a through knowledge of the wildlife within the park. We learned so much from our time with him. People say that seeing wildlife is luck. However, He brings so much skill and knowledge to the experience he creates that luck. Thanks so much for such and enjoyable and educational experience.

This review is long overdue but Evan is an amazing, attentive and educated guide. I had told Evan I wanted to see wolves and possibly grizzly bears and he hit the mark on both! I would say what I got is an experience that showed a community of wolf watchers . He was so good at it that at one point another tour group started asking him questions instead of their guide. Very down to earth and explains what you will need on that day out. He provided all the equipment for viewing and was just an overall nice person ! Would recommend if you’re trying to go out on a nature tour in Yellowstone.

Evan is one of the best guides I have ever met. He is extremely knowledgeable about the animals, geology, and history of Yellowstone. Not only is he knowledge but he also has a gift for storytelling and engaging his guests in the information he has to share. I worked as a cross country tour guide for groups of 13 people and on a few of my trips to Yellowstone we hired local Yellowstone wildlife guides to give us an in depth tour. I worked with guides from several of the local companies but I can say without a doubt that Evan’s tour was the best. I requested him every time I came back after. You will see more and learn more with him than just about anyone else I could think of. He is funny, friendly, and crafts each tour to fit the needs and desires of his clients. His excitement and passion for the Yellowstone ecosystem make his tours truly special. He wants to share that with you. Hire him as your guide.

I've worked alongside Evan for over 10 years. I have also hired Evan on multiple occasions in Yellowstone to guide my clients from all over the world.
As someone who has worked in Yellowstone National Park for over 15 years, Evan is still my go to when I need to hire a guide. His knowledge is only surpassed by his passion for the GYE. He usually astounds me but just recently we went out into the Northern Range and as we went looking for a black bear we had heard about, we were driving and Evan exclaims "there it is!!" We get out and grab the scopes as I am searching everywhere for this bear. He immediately gets the scope on this sliver of a sleeping black bear on the other side of the river and up in a pine tree 30 feet, with his back to us. It looked like a shadow. Evan has blown me away multiple times with his spotting but this was really over the top.
Thanks Evan for your stories of the wonders of our first national park.

My wife and I spent an extraordinary day with Evan- when rangers and other guides came to him throughout the day for his advice, we realized how lucky we were to have secured him for our adventure. He was personable, deeply knowledgeable, and extremely passionate about the animals and the ecosystem of Yellowstone, easily imparting this information without sounding like a professor; his enthusiasm was palpable and infectious!
We are experienced binocular users, but spotting the animals and focusing with high quality optics takes the skilled eye of an expert: Evan is that person.
The breath and depth of his knowledge provided us with our best day in Yellowstone.
