Fishing the Beaverhead

I have been fishing the Beaverhead river since 1980. It's an annual spring trip to enjoy nature and some great fishing.

Great views and scenery abound all along the Beaverhead. Is a Blue Ribbon trout stream as well. Many places to pullout and enjoy the views from the highway as well as fishing sites and trailheads to further enjoy the River.

In 1805, while traveling with Lewis and Clark, Sacajawea recognized the Beaver Head Rock and knew she was back home with the Shoshones. There is no marker for this location but it's known to the locals and is on the National Registry. Travel north from Dillon towards Twin Bridges on Hwy 41, about 1/2 way. There is a turnout nearby... Fly fishing is one of my passion. I grew up fishing the Beaverhead behind my house. I have traveled extensively fishing the world. Hands down the best fishing is the Beaverhead. All guides do a great job and you can't go wrong with any of the outfitters.

Guided float trip with 4Rivers in Twin Bridges! Excellent guide. Caught several large fish. Definitely would go back and book another trip. Great scenery!

We travel from Oregon to fish this river once a year. We always have good luck. And the fish are big and smart. It is not the most beautiful river you will fish in Montana but you will have a great time.

Beautiful fish full of fight. Can be very technical. There are many access sites maintained nicely by the state. Check the shops for what is working.

We have relatives that live within walking distance of the river and try to visit often. The trout fishing is Wonderful and plentiful right now. We caught our limit within an hour and headed back to house. Respect the other fishermen and the river and you will truly enjoy yourself. The fish taste great ( especially if you have an... More
