The guide was very informative and knew a lot of facts about the chateau and the people who owned it. You do have to pay a fee to walk around or get a tour, but it's an interesting place. The chateau may or may not be haunted. It would be worth looking into.

The Clark Chateau, known to the locals as the “Art Chateau”, brings you back in time to the early 1900’s, and offers very impressive artistic design that will catch anyone’s attention, especially those with a love, and respect for art, and architecture.

This mansion is a real beauty. The inside is a work in progress, not many furnishings. Enjoyed hearing about the restoration process. Will be a better experience in years to come

We enjoyed this property albeit sparsley furnished and the inhouse art exhibition not adding to the ambience of the property. However the history of the property has been varied and doesn't allow for much in the way of original furnishings. I think this home will be much improved when it is restored back to its former glory and maybe a... More

Sally and Peter -- Thank you for your feedback! We appreciate hearing from our visitors so we can work towards providing a better experience. Due to our dual role as a community center and rental property, we keep the Chateau's furnishings to a minimum, and attempt to illuminate the history of the building through our tours. However, due to an... More

We had a nice, knowledgeable young lady that took us on a tour of all three floors of the mansion. There are very few furnishings, but the architecture is worth taking the tour.

The exterior of the house and some of the rooms that have been kept close to the original are impressive; however, the interior is not as well furnished as Clark senior's mansion.

What a great way to spend an hour in the historic town of Butte, Montana! Great Victorian mansion built by the son of one of the Copper Kings. It was copied from a chateau in France seen on his honeymoon. Butte was once the largest city West of the Mississippi, and this home shows how wealthy the town once was.... More

This home is better known as the Clark Chateau Mansion. It was built by Charles Clark, the son of William Clark, one of the Montana Copper Kings. It is open for tours, but call in advance because the hours are quirky. The home was designed to resemble a French chateau. Unfortunately, none of the furnishings are original. The house is... More
