With 4 kids under 13, the parents, and grandparents, we opted for the Best of Yellowstone private tour. The van had enough space for the 8 of us and the food and drinks were nice. But hands down, what made this experience stellar was our guide Zach. Not only did he give us incredible information about Yellowstone, he had the perfect personality to provide structure and education for the kids and really enjoyable conversation for the adults. For our first trip we wanted to see all the main features of the park without the stress of mapping, packing the car, parking, and knowing where to stop for pictures and restrooms (don't underestimate this one!). The private tour was a bit pricey, but absolutely worth it, and if you get Zach, you definitely won't regret it.

Everything about our 4 day private tour with Yellowstone Safari Company was great. Having never done a private tour we were initially hesitant and wondered if the cost would be worth it, but we found it was the best decision and highly recommend it to others.
Our guide, Nate, was both extremely knowledgeable about the park and animals, and very friendly making it good company for the four days. We always felt safe with him driving and knowing the temperaments of the animals. He was able to guide us to the highlight spots of Yellowstone during the best times and knew which of the secondary roads were worth the time to visit. The expertise that Nate brought would have taken months to research online and still not be at as intimate an understanding of the park as Nate was.
He was careful to not over promise as the animals are still wild and unpredictable, but even so, we had the fortune of sighting 16 grizzly bears, 4 moose, 1 wolf, 2 coyotes, 3 foxes, and countless bison, elk, mountain goats, bighorn sheep, pronghorns, bald eagles, pelicans, pikas, and others!
Having Yellowstone Safari Company book our rooms for the nights and lay out the general plan for a four day visit to Yellowstone and Grand Teton parks while having Nate customize the details to what we personally were most interested in experiencing was ideal. Nate provided the right amount of balance between giving choices throughout the day and recommending the best path forward. We could not have asked for a better experience for our Yellowstone vacation!

Just completed a 5 day tour of Yellowstone Park and the Grand Tetons via the Yellowstone Safari Co. with Nate Udd as our guide.
One word...FABULOUS!!
Nate was the consummate guide. His knowledge of the parks, wildlife trends, tendencies and habits, contacts with other guides for the latest sighting info and knowledge of "lesser known" but excellent viewing locations was invaluable. And with an artists eye he suggested locations and times to do great viewing and photographing points for wildlife, landscapes, sunrise and sunset views.
Had to be a little flexible as we were getting into shoulder season bur Nate always had options to make the most of our time on our tour. We were there to experience the natural wonders of the parks and Nate made sure we got the most of our tour.
In our opinion you just can't do these parks justice in a day or two. If you have the ability to book a 4 or 5 day tour of these parks do it. And do it with Yellowstone Safari Co.

Last week, my wife & I went on the 3 day, 2 night Grizzly Bear and Wolf Safari. Our guide was Will and he was terrific! We cannot say enough good things about our experience on the trip - mostly attributable to Will. He was professional, very knowledgeable and had a great personality. You need that if you are spending three days with a stranger!
When we booked the trip, my better half was a bit nervous about toodling around looking for Alpha (Carnivorous) Predators! One call to Ash at the HQ in Bozeman settled her doubts.
Will met us at our hotel EARLY in the morning and we headed into Yellowstone. The vast bulk of our time was spent in the Lamar Valley in the north of the park. While the focus of the trip were the animals with big, pointy teeth, we also saw Bison, Deer, Moose, Elk, Pronghorn, Mountain Goat, Osprey, Red Fox (a really cute one), Duck, Geese, Snow Shoe Hare, Black Bear and waterfalls.
Our Accommodations were clean, cozy, basic, comfy and exactly what we expected from cabins in the mountains.
Will was happy to tailor the safari to our wishes. I am not sure if he usually shows off the waterfalls for instance but as a fan of them, I asked and he took us to a few. He threw in a few hikes so we could experience the park on foot. Bear spray at the ready. He was equipped with a radio tuned to the guides' frequency and they were all sharing sitings. Even calling certain wolves and bears by name!
This is really the way to go if you want to pack in a lot in a relatively short time. I could see spending a week on a trip like this without getting antsy. Especially if we had a guide like Will!

We usually drive around Yellowstone on our own, but this trip we decided to try a guided safari. On our first safari with Yellowstone Safari, we saw wolves, coyotes, badgers, a black bear, mountain goats, and the usual animals that are more abundant. Our guide, Grant, was extremely knowledgeable and a joy to be with. He went out of his way to speak with colleagues and knowledgeable wolf enthusiasts to ensure we had the best views possible. He was extremely professional and hard working. We had such a good time, we booked a second tour with Grant. Again, he did not disappoint. Knowing we still wanted to see grizzly bears, he worked hard to find some. We saw 12 that morning! Also of note is how this company is handling the global pandemic situation. They have a plexiglass barrier between the driver and guests, and all wear masks in the vehicle. I really respected their efforts.
They provide snacks, drinks, and a lovely lunch. We ate our lunches at scenic locations, which Grant suggested.
So, even if you’ve done Yellowstone numerous times, there’s still plenty to see with the experts! This company and their guides are the best.

Do yourself a favor and book a tour with this company! You won't regret it!
I have been mildly obsessed with wolves for quite a few years now and seeing them in the wild has been on the top of my bucket list for as long as I can remember. My husband and I chose the 3 Day Winter Wolves and Wildlife Safari and could not have been more pleased with our experience. This was truly one of the best safaris we have ever had, all thanks to our expert Naturalist guide, Grant, and the Yellowstone Safari Co. After working in the safari industry myself for over six years, I have had the privilege of being on safari with some of the best guides in the world, and certainly have high expectations. Grant is one of the best guide we've ever had, hands down. Not only was he able to help us spot, track, photograph and view more species than we thought possible, he also did a great job of ensuring that we were comfortable, enjoying our experience, and had everything we could possibly need. Yes, we were keen to see wolves, but we also really enjoy all different kinds of species, big and small, and get excited by the little things like tracks and scat too. Grant did a great job of ensuring we had a varied experience based on what we enjoyed.
My husband and I are generally quite active, and Grant was able to get us out of the vehicle to hike and explore the ecosystem in other ways. Some of our favorite wildlife tracking and sightings happened outside traditional viewing, which we absolutely loved.
Grant was flexible and enthusiastic and it was really special to feel like we were a part of the larger conservation efforts in the greater Yellowstone ecosystem by being a part of this tour.
The company does a stellar job of providing all the equipment and other accommodations you could ever need. The vehicle was large, comfortable, always clean and we always felt safe (I'm a total backseat driver normally). They had top notch binoculars, spotting scopes, snowshoes, hiking poles, and all the snacks we could ever need. We got great recommendations for dinners while staying in Gardiner and Grant even went above and beyond his required time with us to show us the town and get us a different perspective of the area.
You can also tell that this operation is incredibly well respected among the conversation community that spends most of their time wildlife spotting in the park.
It feels really great to know that your tourism dollars and efforts are going to such a wonderful organization. We even happened to run into Ash, the company Manager, on our last day, who shared in a viewing experience with us and even shared some really interesting personal photos she had from a recent hike she had done in the park. Their excitement for the species in this ecosystem, and the care of the environment really shines through.
Thank you for an amazing experience!!! We felt incredibly special and can't wait to come back.

Our tour guide Grant was perfect for the journey we wanted. He was connected with the watchers (especially wolf watchers, which is what we wanted in addition to coyotes, mountain goat, of course bison, bears, and other native species), obviously interested in the wildlife and their lives, connected to what makes his clients happy, caring about the wildlife AND the clients. The BEST part was following a long female wolf near Little America and her adventures among bison, mousing, crossing the road. And then we were with him when a young black bear was too familiar with people and had some kind of injury or disability. I learned a lot, and I could have continued tracking wolves for days. He made sure we understood the key landmarks for watching wolves, bison and mountain goats, which we wanted; took us to the perfect picnic spot; and despite all kinds of opportunities, got us back to our car at the agreed-upon time (though I could have gone on and on). Definitely recommend. And if you don't really know what you want, he'll find wildlife for your connection, which I think is what most people want / need.

My wife and I booked the private Highlights of Yellowstone tour. Being first time visitors to the Park, we wanted to have a guided tour to maximize our time. We were so fortunate to get Gary as our guide. Gary was simply amazing. Gary has extensive experience and knowledge in the ecology aspect of the Yellowstone eco system, the animals and forest trees and plants. I would highly recommend Gary as a guide.
Gary picked us up a little before 6:00 a.m. in Bozeman. We entered the Park through the north gate a little after 7:00 a m. We exited the Park a little after 5:00 p.m. From the time he picked us up, Gary was a non-stop source of information. He made the tour extremely interesting and we gained a ton of knowledge about everything Yellowstone related. It was so much fun we even ate lunch in the tour vehicle while driving in order to save time. Gary showed us as many sites as were possible in the time allotted. He even gave us valuable information on what to do and see for the remainder of our vacation. Gary also has the uncanny ability to spot wildlife at great distances from a moving vehicle. By the time our tour was over we had spent about 12 hours with Gary and had driven well over 300 miles. The tour was so much fun, the time seemed to fly by. We can not thank Gary enough for going above and beyond. Gary is very passionate and enthusiastic about his job.
I also give high marks to Yellowstone Safari as a company. I did a lot of research and had several questions prior to booking our tour. Each time the company's staff were very quick and informative with their responses. The booking process was very easy and the communication was outstanding throughout the process. We will definitely book another tour with them when we are back in the area.

The Best of Yellowstone tour was outstanding. First, the booking process was very pleasant thanks to the assistance of Ash and Lars. The tour itself began on time at 6:00 AM. In fact our guide, Andrea, was already waiting for my wife and me at the hotel when we stepped out at 5:50 AM. How refreshing! Andrea, from Luxembourg, spoke flawless English. He made the tour sparkle. His love and knowledge of wildlife in general and of Yellowstone in particular shone through. Andrea made sure we saw the highlights of the park, including spectacular waterfalls, Old Faithful, Yellowstone Lake, and lots of wildlife including elk, bison, marmots, mule deer, sandhill cranes, and even a coyote. We were also fortunate to have a really nice group of fellow passengers. Conversation flowed freely along with lots of good humor and laughter. I highly recommend this tour.

A great way to see Yellowstone! Our tour guide, Andrea, was very knowledgeable and was outstanding at maneuvering around the park for us to see all the sites we wanted to see and much more. We could customize the tour as much as we wanted. We had lots of opportunities to get out of the van to view wildlife, hike, and visit the sites. The van was large and comfortable with great viewing. Our guide was prompt and picked us up at our VRBO. We enjoyed our days with him.
The tour provided lunch, snacks and water.
(Breakfast was a croissant so if you need more than that, I’d pack your own)
I highly recommend this company for getting the most out of your time at Yellowstone.
