We have taken the trail to Grotto Falls many times. We even take out of town guests to the falls because it is so accessible for all fitness levels. Make sure to keep an eye out on the right as you are going up to see the mountain goats on the ridges; we generally see several every time we take the trail.

This flat trail leads to a low, pretty waterfall. Most children will be able to do this hike. You can go further on the trail toward Hyalite Lake and see even more Falls.

Great, well marked trail for locals or visitors. Easy hike with a happy ending at the falls! Picnic tables for lunch or a break and to enjoy the view! Took some visitors not accustom to altitude and they did mot have any issues.

Unfortunately, we could not get there. Hyalite Canyon road is CLOSED, which we did not discover until we got upmto Hyalite Reservoir. Googlemaps did not show the closure. We also wanted to see Palisade Falls, but it’s along the same route. One more thing we can’t see, I guess. But Hyalite Reservoir is beautiful. I saw another review that mentioned the detour, but once we were directed back on the main road, it was still closed, so we had to turn around.

A short drive from the Palisade Falls parking area, you'll find parking at the trail head for the Grotto Falls. The slightly longer of the two trails leading to the falls allows for wheelchair and stroller access while the other trail is still an easy hike with a few more rocks and slightly steeper grade. Either trail will get you there in under a mile. While the falls are the main attraction for many, some chose to stop on the trail and enjoy a picnic in the meadows or along the creek. The scenery is simply beautiful and embodies what one would expect from Montana nature.

This was a pretty trail, short and fairly easy. The waterfalls at the end were beautiful, well worth the hike!

This hike is so awesome, gentle and perfect for your family, a date, a lone hike. And the Grotto Falls at the end just round out the loveliness of the hike. You will have such a sweet time. Bring a picnic and spend some time just drinking it all in.

Great easy hike, beautiful scenery, only about 1.5 miles each way. I love waterfalls so I couldn't pass this up, it's a nice drive into the park ( Gallatin National Forest) then a short hike to the falls. I went early so there were not too many people and it was still cool. Down the road from Palisades Falls, you can do both in about an hours and a half.

Beautiful day hiking in Hyalite Canyon and the Grotto Falls trails is only 1 1/2 miles each way, so it is perfect for families. If you want to go farther, you can continue to Arch Falls or all the way to Hyalite Peak (8 1/2 miles each way). Bikes are prohibited on weekends, making it especially nice for families and pets.

Do not go there.

There are dragons in the woods!

Well, if you must ... and you go there ... don't tell anyone else.
