This zoo is quite small, which is understandable being in a small city. The wolves were cool, they were howling while we were there. I only gave it 4 "stars" because some of the exhibits were closed and the animals stored for winter. Granted yes it was early spring but they didn't have an indoor viewing area. I assume this... There are only a handful of animals, but we love the ambience and the walking paths. Go see the exotics, then feed the chickens and goats. This place keeps getting better!

This is a small zoo with a nice, pleasant sensory garden with pretty flowers. It would be nicer if they had someone around welcoming visitors and telling them about the animals and pointing out facts. We didn't see the red panda so it would have been nice for someone to point that out. Gift shop was small and I would... More

It was a very hot afternoon, but we stopped here and enjoyed a walk around the zoo. They have a new takin exhibit. I had never heard of a takin, let alone seen one. I was fascinated. The sensory garden is also worth a stop--beautiful flowers and fountains. A nice little zoo!

I've been to an awful lot of zoos and I do enjoy them in fact I have very fond memories of the Red Lodge Zoo when I was a child this is you and Billings however has been open for many years and just never seems to gain any traction. People work there and some of them make a lot... More

Well phooey, I'm bummed to hear of your disappointment. I am usually good at taking criticism, however, in this case, I have to mention that you couldn't be further from the truth; on several fronts. To begin, ZooMontana began as the Red Lodge Zoo closed. In fact, the owners had a large part to do with the creation of ZooMontana.... More

If you are looking for a big zoo with lots of animals don't go. That said, if you enjoy a walk through a fairly natural area and the opportunity to see some animals in a close to natural habitat this is the place for you. A great place to spend a slow paced afternoon walk in the woods and see... More

Thanks you for the review and visit! We take pride in our quality over quantity approach, so as you said, a big Zoo we are not! But as you mention, we work hard to keep the exhibits as large and natural as possible, thanks for noticing! We look forward to your next visit! Jeff Ewelt Executive Director ZooMontana More

Nice, small zoo to visit in Billings. They fed the animals while we were there so the people could see them come out of their caves. There was a cool park that the kids could play at. Inexpensive to get in and easily accessible. Had a petting section for some animals and could feed the guests and ducks.

Thanks for coming out and for your review! The playground that you mentioned is brand new, so we're quite proud of that, glad the kiddos enjoyed it. Hopefully well see you again soon! Jeff Ewelt Executive Director ZooMontana More
