A little gem

This is all a region art museum should be - friendly welcoming and showcasing the place and artists of the region. The open vault is a novel idea and really well done.

I came here on a whim as I was staying at a nearby hotel, and I really enjoyed the collection. The museum was modern and well kept, the collection presented in a logical, aesthetically pleasing manner. The museum had a variety of media, styles, and eras including some nice regional sculptures. My favorite painting was The Young Chief by J.H.... More

The Yellowstone Art Museum (YAM) is a crown jewel of Billings Montana. This entertainment venue offers a continuous "eclectic" assortment of Local, State, and International Art displays, Shows and Installments suitable for everyone. As a patron of the Arts, the YAM showcases local musical entertainment to accompany add to the visual experience. Director Ken Haak always makes the right choice... More

Attended an artist lecture with the current artists at the museum. This was a very educational event. There is nothing like having artists interpret their work. Loved the interaction.

This was a great place to spend a few hours. Wouldn't mind going back again. They had a lot of very cutting edge art as well as the "normal" stuff.

Billings is a growing mecca.I've lived in new York..for this small city this museum has housed some of the greats like Charlie Russell but still have the charm to show off the talented artists. The interaction of some of their exhibits make it unique and kid friendly. Not your average sometime stuffy museum.come spend a day you won't be sorry

YAM is housed in the former Yellowstone County jail which has been beautifully modified to serve as an art museum. The staff were welcoming and well informed and we were delighted to be there the day after the opening of a spectacular show on the upper floor of the museum. For those who love fairly traditional photos of stunning scenery... More

The YAM has the most interesting shows up right now -- the very colorful painter's show in the main gallery as well as the wonderful show of photographer Mike Sample's work throughout our beautiful state. Most of these photos have not been public prior to this show -- and it is a don't miss! The Raven Cafe has delightful fresh... More
