Bitter Creek Outfitters is a family-operated business providing scenic, guided horseback trail rides on the outskirts of Billings, Montana. We'll treat you to a leisurely trek through the Montana countryside - atop the area's distinctive rimrocks, through ponderosa pines and fields full of wildflowers, mule deer and wild turkeys. We'll show you spectacular views of five different mountain ranges and a unique perspective of the city. AGE, HEIGHT/WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS APPLY. PLEASE SEE WEBSITE FOR DETAILS. We are a full-time ranch, part-time trail riding outfit so advanced reservations are required. We do not keep our horses saddled in the corral & ready to go! If we don't answer the phone, we may be out on a ride or working so please leave a message. Season runs late April thru October, weather permitting. We schedule our starting at either 8 or 9am, 7 days/week, and avoid afternoon rides during peak summer heat but we can be flexible with your travel plans. Let us know what works best & we'll do our best to fit you in!

It was my wife's life long dream to go horse back riding in Montana. I booked us a two hour ride. It was everything my Georgia peach dreamed it would be. The scenery was majestic. The horses were smooth as silk. And our guide was informative and super friendly.

Our family enjoyed a great horse ride as a break to our long road trip. Our teenage daughters had a fun and memorable experience. The views were breathtaking and the horses were easy to ride. I enjoyed the stories and history of this beautiful land. Our guides were friendly and well prepared. I plan to return again!

We had a beautiful relaxing ride. The horses were very well behaved. The guides shared the history and stories of the area. I was sad when the 2 hour ride came to an end.

We scheduled an evening ride with Bitter Creek Outfitters two days before arriving in Billings. Upon arrival, Theresa immediately put us at ease as she gave us our "Riding 101" instructions. The trail is beyond beautiful. We rode by huge rock formations and stopped at an overlook where we could see five mountain ranges, a huge herd of black angus... More

My husband, 15 year old son, and I had an absolutely wonderful time. We are inexperienced with horses, but Theresa took care of us every step of the way. Our horses were very gentle and easy to handle. They took us on a two hour ride through stunning scenery. It was hard to believe that we were only minututes from... More

My daughter & I enjoyed the 2 hour ride first thing in the morning with Theresa. She is very welcoming, friendly, and explains everything you need to know to enjoy the ride as well as sharing interesting stories about the landscape and her family's ranch. It was fun to stand on the cliff overlooking over Pictograph Cave State Park then... More

We stopped for a trail ride on our way through Billings and we're delighted at the experience. Theresa is an excellent tour guide and I would recommend her to anyone.

Bitter Creek Outfitters is a small business where Theresa, the owner, takes groups of 2 to 6 riders on a fantastic tour of her family owned ranch. The scenery is beautiful as she takes you over the hills and valleys while she points out sites. She is so friendly and outgoing that you have a wonderful experience along with very... More

Theresa, you´re a great guide and a wonderful person! We felt in good hands and all horses were very well-behaved. We had so much fun and it was impressive to see your land with all the black angus cows. Even if I ride since I was a child, it was my first time of western riding. It was a great... More

First I would like to say that Theresa is an absolute gem of a tour guide. She genuinely has as much care for the animals as she does the customers...one of the deciding factors in choosing Bitter Creek. If you're not a morning person...try harder. The 7:30 ride is definitely worth getting out of bed for. She did such a... More
