Local experience, where you can meet our Queen. 2 and half hours tour. We have two times for mussel tour, one at 11:00 till 13:30 and on the afternoon 16:30 till 19:00. Start from the port of the lake Butrint with our wooden boat, sail to the mussel bed's (concrete beton structure) build it since communism time in 1960. Explain the process of cultivation and then do the same process as mussel farmer do, seperate the Queen's from the nets. After the process, start to sail again to the place called Kalivoi, there we will prepare our lunch, two kind of mussel dish, fresh vegetables, homemade bread, white wine and water.

Excellent tour, there is no other groups doing the same tour, therefore we got the entire lagoon for ourselves, that means the photos landscape photos didn’t include any other tourists, only the odd local fishermen sitting on the concrete mussel beds. The food is completely local prepared in front of us, local olive oil, lemons, sweet white wine and wild oregano. I totally recommend this 2 and a half hour tour, specially if it is a cloudy/rainy day. Next time i would also bring a swim suite and snorkelling gear for a quick dive in the lagoon beach next to the restaurant while the food is being prepared.

We absolutely loved the mussel tour! We were timely informed by Nebo that the tour had to be postponed a day due to the weather. Luckily, the next day it was beautiful weather and we had a great tour along the mussel beds. Captain/Guide Antonio told us all about the mussels and the farming, and taught us the cleaning process. We had a lovely meal at a really cute, family-owned small restaurant (made with the mussels we collected during the tour). We highly recommend this authentic tour to everyone visiting Ksamil.

Highly recommended boat tour with Nebo and his friend Sindi. We were taken to the mussel farm out on the lake where we learnt from Nebo how the mussels are cultivated. He picked some mussels from one of the ropes, called the ‘Queen’, which we proceeded to clean for our lunch. He obviously has a great love for the lake and his work, passing on his knowledge of the farms to visitors.
Lunch was in a small restaurant across the lake. We had our mussels cooked three different ways. One dish was prepared by Nebo using olive oil, mint and lemon juice with raw mussels. Some of the other mussels were steamed and some were barbecued. These delicious healthy mussels were served with salad made from local produce and homemade bread. To accompany this great lunch we had water and homemade white wine.
This is a beautiful, secluded, peaceful place and we had plenty of time during lunch to relax and talk to Nebo and Sindi about their life in Albania.
This was definitely one of the highlights of our trip.

Fantastic experience! I’m quite skeptical when it comes to tours but mussel tour quickly revealed itself to be one of the best (and most relaxing) experiences in Ksamil.
The Guides were kind and funny, they explained the whole process and were happy to answer any question regardless of the topic, by the end of it we knew loads about Albanian culture and history.
We cruised around the lake and reached a pretty family owned restaurant where we had a late lunch: loads of fresh mussels cooked in a variety of way.
It was fantastic I loved trying them raw!
Me and my friend both felt very happy at the end of it and couldn’t wait to try their other tours. Recommended for everyone: families, couples, friends and solo too! Incredible cultural exchange.

On this tour you will find a real taste of Albania and a professional approach to the work. We enjoyed everything from learning how the mussels are cultivated, how they grow and ending with a great tasty lunch in a friendly lakeside setting. If you want to discover a different part of Albania and enrich yourself with new knowledge and emotions, this tour is a must.

Unforgettable experience, one you shouldn’t miss if you are around or staying in Ksamil. Just a stone throw away from Butrint you can board a boat and learn all about the secrets of the life of mussels! The guys on the tour are super nice and teaching you everything they know. They take you to a small restaurant where you can eat the mussels you gathered and cleaned and they also use only organic products from the nearby villages and farms to prepare them.

The boat trip was amazing, first curving round Butrint before heading out to more open water with stunning views in every direction. Our guild was very knowledgeable and passionate and clearly enjoyed showing us his corner of the world. Picking and cleaning the mussels ourselves was a great surprise that we got stuck into (it's optional but I recommend it, very therapeutic) We were served the mussels in 3 ways, all amazing and went great with the local wine. Eating so close to the water, looking out at the views and walking along the beach was the perfect date but everyone should do this tour (friends, family, solo - it's great). It was the highlight of our trip to Albania.

Mussel tour , a must try for the whole family. It's interesting to see from near the mussels' growing implants, learn about them. Then at the end, taste them as part an organic healthy and fresh meal, in a restaurant as simple and as beautiful as the nature around this place.

We are two families that took our kids (3, 4, 5 and 6 years of age) on the sunset mussel tour. It was amazing! Mussels were the best! The fish was also amazing (for those that didn’t eat mussels). Soraldo our tour guide was very good and spoke good English. Our children had a fun time. The boat had shade and life jackets for adults and children. All round was a great authentic experience and would highly recommend. Great for families and very affordable.

Very nice tour for mussels farming in the lake of Butrint.
Antonio was very friendly during the whole tour and for lunch prepared some delicious mussels which he got the during the trip.Most fresh sea food I ever had.
