FIrst trip to this lake. Loved the area with lots of choices to fish and enjoy the lake. Loved the bridge across the lake near Clinton. Lots of things to do nearby as well. Beautiful lake to visit in Missouri!

There is an observatory you can visit. It has dinasaur fossils found in the area....a "look-out" tower with binoculars.....my kids had a blast. Also there are hiking trails all through the wilderness with old homes you can tours. It's absolutely amizing to see the history first hand.

I have been to Truman Lake twice now. The first time I spent a quick night at Bucksaw Lodge did a little fishing and totally loved the quick trip from Lincoln Nebraska where the lakes are stricken with a toxic bluegren algae. I returned a couple of months later, traveled to warsaw and around alot the lakes marinas. After seeing different campsites and marinas I returned to Bucksaw Lodge and Marina (not far from Clinton) stayed at the lodge and enjoyed the swimming pool after a long day of driving. You've got to meet the woman that operates the Lodge what a friendly person. The people at the marina are also very good people but seem to be short of help around there. The marina also has a restaurant with excellent food. The second night I camped at the Bucksaw campsite somewhat close to the water. I caught a 5 lb. largemouth bass plus some other assorted fish. I have had a wonderful time at Truman Lake twice and am looking at possibly moving there but jobs are scarce. My only complaint was camping was so far away from the water in all places that I visited.

We have lived here since 2001 and love it. The fishing is great and is available almost year-round. That is if you like the cold!! Plenty of marinas and boat ramps. Plenty of great campgrounds, including Truman State Park. Great place to vacation (and to live.)

Mylate father and I were among the first to use the marina and motel. As a journalist and outdoor writer, I've traveled extensively. The Reynolds Family has always treated me like family. Emily and Jason and crew members, Tommy and Wally, are honest, attentive and worthy of your repeat business!

Traveling around Truman Lake was breathtaking to say the least. This is a beautiful lake with lots to do and places to go. However, watch where you stay, normally I'd say you are in good hands at any of our national park campgrounds, not this time at Berry Bend Campground. There are A, B, C, campground area listed, maybe even a D. But only C is really open, and B only has 8 sites that are usable. The hole area is in such disrepair, that it's spooky. No trash pick up, hardly no maintenance at all, most all of the campsites in A and B are closed, ran over with brush, dead trees, and weeds. Roads closed and so on. Made our experience one that we didn't want to return.

This is clean lake to fish and swim. We enjoy camping. This is a corp lake so there is only camping around the edge of the lake. There are hotels in Warsaw and Clinton and other cabins closer. Crappie fishing is great in some point in the spring.

Most people come to the many areas on and around Truman Lake to fish and relax. It's a great place for both, but my friends and I come to look for birds. Shorebirds, waterfowl, nesting warblers, viireos, tanagers, etc., may be found at many places around the lake, and the Missouri Department of Conservation access points make it easy to see places lakeside...usually. In this summer of 2019 the normally 50,000 acre lake is at flood stage, covering 200,000 acres. Many parts are inaccessible.
Still, birding and sightseeing around Truman Lake is rewarding. If you're planning to visit several points by land, even at normal pool level many access points are far apart by gravel roads that reach points along this sprawling lake created by damming river and creeks.

So much to do. Skiing, tubing, fishing, or just sitting in the coves listening to music and riding the waves. Enjoy the great restaurants at the marinas.

Can I use my America the Beautiful pass at Truman Lake boat ramp?
Where is a good place to stay to check out the lake? Maybe rent a boat one day?

Truman Lake is a 55,600 acre Corp of Engineers' lake that is a man-made lake that is stocked full of fish. It is always open to the public for use. Boats can be put in at the public ramp areas and there are campgrounds around the lake for parking RVs or putting up tents.
What does it cost to launch your boat
Martin G
Lake Ozark, MO65 contributions
Varies, all depends on your age, the boat launch in federal parks are free for those of use with annual senior passes. However $5 is the answer, now if you go to state parks, where there is a launch is free but here again depends on age, some are $5 and private concession areas go for $5 to $15. I sure hope I've helped and forgive me if time has taken it's toll on me and inflation has too..
Does it cost anything to go swimming on the beach, for the day?
