World Bird Sanctuary, just outside of St. Louis.

The World Bird Sanctuary is a wonderful place. They take in and treat injured birds. Raptors are their specialty. Bald Eagles, Vultures, Owls, Hawks, Falcons, and others, including our favorite "Dorothy" the Andean Condor are outside for your viewing pleasure. We just renewed our membership. My granddaughters love this place too.

Fun and Educational for both Adults and Children
Sep 2021
I have been to the World Bird Sanctuary multiple times for various occasions. I would recommend a visit any time, but I would highly recommend their special events. I find they are budget-friendly, well organized, informative, and fun! I most recently visited for Vulture Awareness Day with my nephews (4 and 2) and they loved it. They enjoyed seeing the birds and visiting the interactive booths that were set up for the event. They were able to see a bald eagle up-close as well. The children also enjoyed the playground and gift shop. I have also been to other events, such as their Owl Prowl events in the fall. I really enjoy those, as they are in the evening so they offer a different experience. I think it is amazing to observe the owls flying. I have also visited when there are not events going on, and I find the Sanctuary to be very peaceful. It is best to visit on day with good weather as the birds are outside. I will definitely be visiting again!

We had a great experience. The staff was very friendly & accommodating. This place was well maintained and we was very impressed with the entire facility. We talked about this place being a worthy cause for donations. Not advertised and it is much overlooked for family getaways.

Raptor Experience
Sep 2021 • Couples
My boyfriend held Diego the owl. It was wonderful for the most part. The guide was super pleasant and knowledgeable. I do wish they had taken the group after us somewhere else until we were done, because it was quite hard to hear our presenter while another guide was getting the next group settled and explaining the process to them. I also think for the cost it could be a little longer. Overall though, a great xperience.

The animals here are amazing and seem to be well taken care of. My wife did the handle a raptor experience and the staff were amazing. I highly recommend going here and being a picnic to enjoy on the grounds while watching local birds flying around.

Seeing all the stories of the birds in residence was amazing. I can't believe there weren't hundreds of people there! We had a great time and felt very welcomed.

We enjoyed being up close to the macaws. My granddaughter got to hold Waylon, who she adopted last January. Big thrill! We also got to see Solo the falcon.

Hi registered for the raptor experience and it was amazing. Extremely friendly staff and knowledgeable about their area! I cannot wait for the eagle exhibit to be completed as it looks amazing!

If you visit, make sure to drive through Lone Elk Park on the way out to see the herds of bison and elk! Just a bonus to my trip!

Wonderful from start to finish!

From start to finish, the staff at the WBS were friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable! We had the pleasure of running into the director while she was on a visit to Poe the raven and could not have enjoyed her more. CJ the naturalist gave us insight into the personality of some of the bald eagles and the entire team working the education programs were welcoming and stellar!
