Reserved 1 raft 1 canoe and 2 kayaks for family outing at a cost of $296. This 73 yr old grandad bowed out because of 111 heat index. Upon requesting a kayak to replace the canoe, was told there would be no $15 refund for downgrade as this was a cancellation and that a $15 credit toward next rental would be given. There will NOT be a next time; it’s the principle thing. After a conversation about cancellation vs replacement, was told by the rude unapologetic employee that this is policy. Manager backed this. So they now have a $15 unearned tip. The park facility itself is great. Appears to be be a large number of negative reviews about the rental concession. Our visit confirms.

We rented 2 attached cabins for 6 adults, 2 children. We drove 3 vehicles 5 hours one way for this family weekend. At first glance, we thought the cabins could use updating but okay, 2 nights it would be all right. Next, we noticed quite a bit of dirt and lint on the floors and dirt and food on the futon. Our grandson's feet were black after running barefoot among the rooms. There was a hole in the shower. There were no screens and the windows did not close properly and could not be locked. Little did we know this would not be the worst. The next morning we found bed bugs in one of the bedrooms. After setting panic aside, we made a trip to Wal-Mart for large plastic bags and bed bug spray, promptly checked out and drove home. Yes, a refund was given but that in no way cured our disappointing weekend and the mess we had upon returning home with laundry and concern over bringing bed bugs with us.

We stayed in Cabin 2. It was quaint little cabin, but smelled musty. We had most things we needed for a 3 night stay. The bedroom could use lamps and a ceiling fan. And the futon in the living room had a very old cover that we didn't really want to sit on. The windows looked like they hadn't been washed in a very long time! But we spent most of our time outside anyway. Loved the porch, fire pit and picnic table!

We found the trails to be ok. They could definitely use more markings/signage telling you distance and when you are transitioning from one trail to another. And if you go on the wilderness trail, be ready for an all day hike!

We took the 5 mile float trip. The experience was enjoyable, but we agree with the other reviews, more markings for distance would have been helpful. We also felt the distance was not 5 miles, as we finished in under 2 hours.

The Fisher Cave tour was very interesting. The guide knew her stuff!

We rented a 6 person raft (approx $200) for 2 adults and 2 child. We saw the 4 person daft was a flat fee but then added like $35 for the 4th person. We went bigger because the price difference was small. I'm so glad we did. I do not think this 6 person raft would comfortably fit 6 people. The groups of 4 who got a 4 man raft were very unhappy. You have to bring stinky life vests with you. Adults don't have to wear them but have to bring them. Luckily the kids had their own. I bring this up because you have to fit all the life vests, cooler, snacks etc on the raft. Get a bigger size raft than you need! The river was not cooperative. Not sure if it always has nearly no current or the wind was working against us but we had to paddle a ton. The horse flies were really bad too.
As it got later in the day the consumption of booze, stench of pot and out of control adults was not great for kids. I'm all for adult fun, but I wouldn't do this again with kids unless maybe leaving on morning group before adults get too wild. I felt like we didn't meander a lot but we had to really hurry to get the raft back by the 6:00pm requirement. We left around 1:00 for the 6 mile trip. If I did again I would go earlier and bring more adults to help paddle. My husband and I were sore. My previous float experiences were on the Current River and you don't have to work near as hard to float! Wear water shoes and bring more snacks and drinks than you think you'll need. All the paddling takes it out of you!

We stayed in Park Cabins 12-13, ours was big enough for 4 people and 3 dogs, which I will tell ya don't bring dogs unless they have been walked a lot. I loved having no TV and minimal cellphone reception, it forces the teenagers and younger kids to think on their own and keep themselves busy without technology! There's enough storage in the kitchenet area to pack a week of supplies, as we cooked all our meals. The park has trails that run throughout the park from 1/2 hour to full 9 hours.

The beds are not comfortable, but after our 3rd night, we started getting used to it. Only issue we had was using their firewood. We never got a fire in the pit for smores :(

Fisher Cave is closed for rest of 2020 too. My family and I would come back again!

This is not the first time at Meramec State Park and the park is always beautiful! However this time it was obvious the cabin we stayed in needed a thorough cleaning. Cabin 1 is charming but the floors were sticky, the kitchen sink was dirty and dust & cobwebs were everywhere. The futon’s cover was in dire need of a washing & the cabin smelled. It’s unfortunate because we love the park. Perhaps we are spoiled by the cleanliness of the cabins at Washington State Park. Hopefully the concessions owner will improve on the cleanliness of the cabins!

With as much detail as has been put into the attractions at the caverns, you'd think they could spend a little more on the campgrounds. Parking on an asphalt parking lot is not my idea of camping. And come to find, the State park campgrounds, that I thought I was booking, was some much nicer. I guess sometimes it pays to have an RV.

This operation has changed ownership. The new operation is actually fantastic. Great customer service, very well organized, and we had a fantastic day. Scott provided outstanding customer service on my numerous calls to him setting up this trip. We are already planning another trip. I highly recommend this as long as the water levels are not high..

My friends and I went floating on tubes through this company. The employee at the to parental building so that there would be multiple markings telling us where to get out at. There were none. The flight was supposed to be an hour to an hour and a half long. We missed our exit for the tubes. Our hour and a half float turned out to be an eight hour float. We attempted multiple times to get out of the river and asked to use other peoples phones to call and ask questions about where we’re supposed to get out at or if we missed our exit how to get back into Meramec Park. All of the other tubing companies or campsites refuse to let us use their phones. At the end of our float we got out at the caveman zip line. They advise us this happens a lot that people with this company will miss their exit and they end up here. Employee advised that we can leave our tubes there they’ll come pick up the tubes but they will not come pick us up. We had to call for a taxi to get a ride back to the park. Once we get to our cars and employee from this company was yelling at us and was trying to get extra money due to us missing our exit saying that we could’ve died. He also advised that he called the Rangers water patrol and other details to come look for us. Come to find out that he did not do this. Overall not happy with the service that was provided by this company and other companies around since we missed our exit and the way that we were treated when we got back to our vehicles. I would not go tubing through this company. I will never again use this company at this park.

We stayed in Cabin 1. The AC was cold and it had good water pressure. We were impressed with the amount of room we had in the cabin and between the cabins. The bathroom is sizeable. Overall, we had a great experience with the cabin.
We also rafted. It was a nice float on an easy river. It gives you plenty of time to stop to enjoy the river.
Fisher Cave was a neat experience as well.
Next time I'd like to explore some of the trails.
Every employee we encountered was nice and helpful.
We'll be back!!
