We didn't get to stay long, but enjoyed the visitors center and a short walk on one of the trails. Beautiful area. Would like to go back when we have more time and enjoy a picnic and a nice long hike.

Each time I visit Springfield, I take time to visit the Conservation nature center. A pleasant parcel of land with several different well marked, paved trails taking you through this ecologically diverse part of our world. From small lakes to natural running springs, this park is a nature lovers dream. Deer, birds, and dozens of other animals and fauna that... More

Visitor center has some nice exhibits, but the trails are where this place really shines. Nice mixture of ecosystems, with woodland, lake, marsh, and prairie. Spend an hour for a quick loop around the long trail, or a couple hours for a more leisurely stroll with stops.

Do not miss this place, the staff is wonderful, the experience is great. We went for a science night where we got to handle, learn about, and eat crayfish. The kids loved it, we had a ball.

This is a wonderful place to go for a short hike with your kids. The visitor center has a lot of exhibits to help you learn about plants and animals native to the local area. The docents are happy to answer questions. It is free so you can go often.

Families can hike on the paved trails or off-road on the more strenuous trails that aren't paved. If it's raining, you can take the kiddos in the indoor activity area that's actually hands-on and educational. We love to do a combo visit where we can hike the pretty trails and go indoors for the exhibits. Use the restroom at the... More

I like to hike and bird. There is a variety of terrain surfaces and elevations and trail lengths to accommodate most. Not advised to wear shoe attire that would not be safe for the rocky part of the trail. There are ample spots along the trails to sit, a shelter for picnic/events and fun activities for young kids. Pets are... More

The Nature Center is a great place to casually walk, look at wildlife, hike and just to get outdoors. Easy to access off of Highway 60 and 65. The trails are well maintenanced and there is a variety of easty to hard. We love the Nature Center.
