Worth the visit
Jul 2021
I thought this place was well worth the diversion out of Sainte Genevieve. It's tucked away well off the beaten path but it is work the effort to get there. They have a wide variety of wines from which you can choose and will gladly set up flights for customers to choose their favorites. Plus, if you buy something from them, you can walk down to their 'cave' where there are a number of picnic tables set up inside where you can sit in the cool of the cave and enjoy a glass of wine or two.

NOTE: they have a golf cart for guests who may have accessibility challenges. Just ask in the wine tasting room.

One last thing: the day we were there, there was a LOT of dripping from the cave ceiling making most of the tables unusable. I suggested to the managers they need to invest in some basic picnic table umbrellas like you would find on a sunny patio. If not, you would be wise to take in an umbrella and some towels. Otherwise, you will be sitting at the mouth of the cave rather than inside it.

This is one of the coolest places I’ve ever been! They have a huge selection of wines, and you can take it down to the cave and enjoy it! Love love love this place!

Unwelcoming experience
Oct 2020 • Solo
Stopped in the morning on my way to St. Louis. I work in the wine industry and saw an interstate sign so it looked interesting. Staff was attentive and friendly at first, but couldn’t answer questions on a couple of the wines. Some of the wines were good, others only fair. After I ordered the tasting flight, I asked about the cave - and was angrily informed that you must buy a bottle to go see the cave. After saying I was just passing through and wanted to quickly take a look they insisted that I buy a bottle to see the cave. The whole cave situation was awkward and felt very unwelcoming. At every other winery I’ve been to and worked at you are encouraged to walk around the premises and make yourself at home. Maybe it would be more negotiable if they offered glass sales instead of just bottles. Won’t be back until then

I am so sorry to hear that you felt unwelcome. It is our goal to make every guest feel welcome and appreciated. My apologies if it came off angrily when I stated that a wine purchase is required as admission to the cave. That was certainly not the intent. The wine purchase requirement is posted on the board behind the bar as well as on the sign at the top of the path to the cave. I recall that I did offer that you were welcome to enjoy the porches and outdoor pavilion - just like at any other winery. You were also invited to enjoy your tasting in the Winery Loft which overlooks our production area. Our cave is something special & unique. The costs to maintain it are significant and we feel it appropriate to ask for at least a bottle purchase before visiting. Whether that be a quick viewing for those passing through, or spending an afternoon picnicking. Guests are always informed that equivalent purchase to a wine bottle is considered adequate admission to the cave. Guests are also informed that they don't have to consume the wine on property. I believe I remember offering both of these options to you. We do appreciate the feedback and hope that you will one day want to come enjoy our cave.

Very interesting and well worth a visit

We stopped here for the first time. The main building is interesting as you can see the wine making equipment. But, the highlight of the visit was Emily who explained each of the wines they make and then provided us with a sample tasting board of 5 of our choices. Wines were good. We bought a bottle and walked to the cave to enjoy the wine. Visiting and drinking wine in the cave is quite unique.
I would highly recommend visiting this winery and if you are lucky, Emily will be working which will make your visit even better.

Nice vineyard

This is nice winery to visit in pleasant rural part of Missouri. The wines we sampled were decent, but not exceptional. We did buy two bottles. The cave is cool, and would a great place to rent out for a party.

Very nice time - we enjoyed having our wine in the cave.

The Cave is cool for a hot day. It is fun to sit in an active cave (meaning water drips from the ceiling into pools (in spots). It was a nice walk down, a bit of a hill to get back up, although I did see a golf cart they may use to help. I'd recommend taking your wine with a lunch you brought. If you have small children, it might be a good idea to have a wagon to transport. Restrooms are at the top where you park. so plan ahead !! There is a nice pavilion at the top near the wine store so if you are not up to walking down to the cave (paved walkway), you can enjoy your wine on a table under the shade.

Small MO winery
Sep 2019
Small winery in MO. We arrived just as a bride was getting ready to walk down the aisle which meant that we were "locked out" of the shop and tasting room. When we were finally allowed to taste a few wines we found out that you MUST purchase a bottle of their wine to visit the wine cave. This would have been OK but we really didn't care for their wines that much. After buying a bottle, we walked down to the cave but were told that there was no golf cart today to bring us back up the steep hill due to the wedding. We went anyway. Not really worth all the expense and hassle.

I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your visit with us and that it was disrupted by the wedding that day. I recall that day...it was unique in that the bride chose to make her entrance through the tasting room - which we had never done before. I am sorry that it interfered with your visit. We thought the few moments would be acceptable and will take your comment into consideration if it's ever requested again. It's true, we don't run the cart during ceremonies. However, they typically only last 15-20 min. I apologize that you did not have one available when you were ready to come up the hill and that it wasn't explained that it would only be a few minutes. We do appreciate the feedback so that we can continue to make improvements to provide a memorable guest experience. We do hope that you will come back and visit again.

Awesome
Dec 2019
Never knew of this amazing place! Thanks to the Missouri sign advertising, or we'd never have known. On our way back home, we saw a sign for a wine cave, quickly googled it, and said you let's go. Found it (sidenote, the path/rd/rock st. to get there can be a little rough/iffy - but keep going, well worth the dune buggy ride). Greeted by a nice hostess who educated us on each wine during the tasting. Purchased our selection to drink in ... THE CAVE! So cool! The walk down to the cave was wonderful. The walk back up from the cave after a bottle of wine - hilariously challenging.
