Our family loved this tour! Bart was our guide; he had so much energy and knowledge, you can tell how much he loves the Hill and he really wanted our whole group to fully experience it.

We made 6 stops during the tour, it was well paced, with a lot of facts and history along the way. Each stop provided a delicious food; enough to be satisfied but not so much that we felt uncomfortably stuffed. Our son has a peanut allergy, and they were conscious of this, making a substitution for him at one of the stops.

We’re so glad we did this tour, and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting St Louis!

I think it's important to know that I'm a food tour guide, and that I try to take food tours wherever I travel and at the time of this tour have taken more than 15 food tours.

Taste of the Hill food tour with Eat St. Louis did not disappoint. The customer service was great, starting with asking to alter my reservation. Though the POC said that it was a full tour, he authorized two additional tickets so that my parents could accompany me.

Our guide, Jill, was full of great knowledge, a love for food, and connected why she likes these tours back to her own family history. The tour itself offered oodles of food, fun water bottles to use and then take home, wonderful history lessons, and a sunny day on The Hill.

And for those unaccustomed to the Hill, there's no real hill or incline here. It's great for everyone!

We had an excellent tour! We went in April and the weather wasn't very cooperative for a tour that spends a lot of time outdoors. We really appreciated all the history about the area and other tidbits about what makes The Hill so special. We appreciated all the spots were local and didn't feel like a marketing ploy by restaurants. The tour guide is truly passionate about food and the history. Would HIGHLY recommend to anyone who is on the fence. Do it you'll be so glad you did.

Food Tour of the Hill

I am honestly confused. How did this get such excellent reviews? $80 per person for some bite sized snacks? Only drink included is a cheap, ugly water bottle that you can refill with barely cool water at two locations. My expectation and what I received are extremely different. Why are you serving tiny, partial sandwiches and sandwich kabobs on a Italian food tour?! I should be receiving noodles and sauces galore! Where’s the lasagna, fettuccine, Alfredo, and marinara! $80 should have fed me a full course meal. My group left starving. Not impressed.

Most of the tour was standing around outside listening to the guide drone on and on about unnecessary information.

Megan K. & Cathy R. of the 7/30/22 Hill Tour : Thank you for your review. We are known for taking ownership and caring deeply about our customers and their experience and therefore we apologize that we did not do a good enough job in communicating and setting the correct expectations for your "group" of you and your mother. I’m sorry to hear that we did not serve you the pasta dishes or the portion sizes you had anticipated. We strive to set expectations on our website, prior to ticket purchase, to avoid a potential situation like this. Our website clearly states these are “several tasting portions that altogether are enough for a meal and most guests are comfortably full at the end” and further encourages guests to consider eating breakfast before the tour as it is not meant to replace multiple meals. In selecting our tastings, we make an effort to show St. Louis-style Italian foods that the neighborhood and tour partners are known for … which reaches beyond stereotypical pasta. Your review expresses that you and your mother did not enjoy the commentary. Your local guide Bart has been with the company for many many years and has entertained thousands of guests with the rich history and stories of the immigrants who settled here. After reading your scathing reviews (on multiple review sites), we would agree that you probably would have been better off going to one of our wonderful restaurants and eating all the pasta you want (sadly, there are no pasta buffets on the Hill). It is important to note that we have NOT changed our total portion sizes on this Hill tour since day one, and by the overwhelming majority of our reviews, the average guest not only leaves satisfied but has had such a wonderful time that are motivated to write a positive review and recommend us to their friends.

I was very disappointed with this tour. The reason you take a food tour is to load up on food for 80.00 per person and not taste samples. We were hungry after this tour. I had expectations of different pastas, sauces etc.. to which there was really none . 2 small fried raviolis was the extent of pasta. If you want an awesome food tour take the Kansas City BBQ tour where you get full meals at 5-6 locations plus beverages and you actually take leftovers home. You load up on a bus and hit many historic sites. I give this tour a thumbs down.

Enjoyed it so much the first time, took the tour for a birthday party which included native St. Louisians, that didn't realize such a tour existed, as well as out-of-towners. Almost everyone on our latest tour had their own favorite thing. The food is good (as expected), and the history and additional perks of the tour make it worth doing again and again.

Jill, our tour guide, provided during a 2 1/2 - 3 hour tour a really interesting history of The Hill, a more than a century old Italian neighborhood. Immigrants arrived from Italy, enjoyed the area, and brought their families who started small businesses. Italians love food, the the tour stopped at six family owned Italian restaurants. From cannoli to gelato to meat ball sandwich to homemade sausage on pizza. A deliciously educational tour. We were a group of seven. The walking tour was easy and there were plenty of stops for a brief sit while Jill expounded on the history of the area.

EAT St. Louis was a great time with fantastic food! We went to 6 separate locations and got wonderful tastes of Italian foods on the Hill Tour. Our guide, Jill was skillful in presenting each food with an interesting history lesson. She navigated us through this historic neighborhood and taught us about it’s founding and it’s people. Combined with the food, it made for a perfect afternoon in STL.

I spent 6 years of my childhood in St. Louis, with my last visit ~20 years ago. This was my husband's first time ever. We both had a great time learning about the Hill area. Our guide did a great job of laying out the story of this particular neighborhood, explaining the hows and whys of the people, culture, architecture, and of course FOOD.

We enjoyed all the wonderful treats. The salumeria was impressive with melt-in-your-mouth prosciutto. Our favorite was the shop with the best olives we've ever tasted! We went back and bought two pints worth along with other delicious ingredients to prepare a lovely Italian meal for our hosts.

We had a great time and would highly recommend. We look forward to trying out their other tours on future trips.

Our tour guide, Jill, was so wonderful and knowledgeable! She has so many interesting facts and stories to share about the food and restaurants you get to experience. We did this tour with other families that happened to sign up & everyone was so genuinely kind and fun to be around. I highly recommend this tour to anyone new or old to STL - there’s something to for everyone!
